Kalibeck

Not, nothing of nothing Not, I regret anything Neither it although one made me, nor the evil All that is quite equal for me Non, nothing of nothing Non, I do not regret anything......that's what babelfish says, we must be missing the nuances...the A/C's okay, but this dog's gonna make me nuts tonight...he's back, at the front door now, scratching & whining, owner not at home, both of their dogs, St. Bernard & Beagle, both intact males, just dumped outside, in the snow, while they're away...I've a good mind to call animal control if they don't show up soon....jh

Would a cochlear implant be an alternative for you. My buddy was almost killed in a biking accident lost his hearing. The implant allowed him to hear out of one ear. Which was a blessing in disguize because he was always such a talker and comedic person. Even the doctors cried when he said he could hear. He was a cop had to retire. The doctors did the surgery for free. And they were talking about doing a dual implant, which if I am correct has never been done before but were going to try. I have lost contact with him since I retired so I don't know what ever happened. I know what ya mean about being alone, I'm sorry about your husband. Cancer is such a terrible disease. I lost my mom to breast cancer. I have been divorced for 10 years with 2 boys to raise. I can't live without a dog in the house. I figure if they can get past the 3 of them now they can shake hands with my 9-mm. Plus having kids around animals makes them more compassionate adults. I don't get along real well with people that don't have animals...

Babelfish and other internet sites that offer translation by machine are worthless. Learn a language........the old fashioned, real way. Or pay someone who is fluent in a language to do your important translations for you. And never buy a dog from someone whose language you cannot speak unless you DO have a translator.....saves a lot of pain for you when your expectations are understood and discussed.

My hearing loss is not yet considered severe enough for a cochlear implant. Between some very expensive hearing aids, and being fairly good at lipreading, I get by okay unless there is a lot of background noise. Here's a YouTube video of Edit Piaf singing "Non, Je ne Regrette Rien." When she first heard the song, she said, "That's marvellous! That will be my epitaph!" http://youtube.com/watch?v=kFRuLFR91e4 Here is the English version of the lyrics, which don't quite capture the full meaning, but come close: NO REGRETS - Edith Piaf No! No regrets No! I will have no regrets All the things That went wrong For at last I have learned to be strong No! No regrets No! I will have no regrets For the grief doesn't last It is gone I've forgotten the past And the memories I had I no longer desire Both the good and the bad I have flung in a fire And I feel in my heart That the seed has been sown It is something quite new It's like nothing I've known No! No regrets No! I will have no regrets All the things that went wrong For at last I have learned to be strong No! No regrets No! I will have no regrets For the seed that is new It's the love that is growing for you And the original French version: Non! Rien de rien ... (No, nothing of nothing) Non ! Je ne regrette rien (No, I will have no regrets) Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait (Not the good they have done to me) Ni le mal tout ça m'est bien égal ! (nor the bad, it's all the same to me) Non ! Rien de rien ... (same as above) Non ! Je ne regrette rien... C'est payé, balayé, oublié (It's paid, swept away, forgotten) Je me fous du passé! (I'm done with the past) Avec mes souvenirs (With my memories) J'ai allumé le feu (I have lit the fire) Mes chagrins, mes plaisirs (My regrets, my pleasures) Je n'ai plus besoin d'eux ! (I have no more use for them) Balayés les amours (sweep away all (past) loves) Et tous leurs trémolos (and all their tremblings) Balayés pour toujours (sweep away for ever ) Je repars à zéro ... (I've gone back to zero) Non ! Rien de rien ... (same as above) Non ! Je ne regrette nen ... Ni le bien, qu'on m'a fait Ni le mal, tout ça m'est bien égal ! Non ! Rien de rien ... Non ! Je ne regrette rien ... Car ma vie, car mes joies (For my life, for my joys) Aujourd'hui, ça commence avec toi ! (today, it begin with you!) (translated by Sunny, with only a small amount of help from Bablefish.) (Sorry...probably more than you wanted to know...I'm a big fan of Piaf..)

I am too. The little sparrow is probably my favorite solo artist.

My french is even worse than my spanish, but respect for Edith Piaf has made me apply much more effort to understanding the French language than I ever did in college - her music is so beautiful in her native tongue.

This is pretty funny: WOMEN'S REVENGE 'Cash, check or charge?' I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for her wallet, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her purse. 'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked. 'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping with me, And I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally

Gshprdsrul: Now you seem to be a pretty good egg, an all right sort of a guy. So I'm sorry I called you an asshole, and I'm sorry for what I said about you in spanish.

LOVE the taking the remote control shopping idea. Consider it pilfered. For myself, I am saving a potion of Jed's raw diet for a meatloaf someday when the husband shows up from his hunting club at 2:30 am hungry. Mmmm. Raw beef, raw calf's liver, quick oats & ...cod liver oil. Yum yum. Jackie: Coffee? Time for you to come over here and indulge in some serious Shelley reprobate therapy. Bring your sleeping bag. You won't be driving home. ;) SS
