Certainly, the AKC is not about to turn down litters from LC's. Looking at an AKC pedigree or registration certificate, there is no way to determine a dog's coat status.

Damn, Louise!! I haven't seen people so defensive and "threatened" by you, since Elder!! LOL I thought the "thanks" references at the beginning of the thread were because you had set the forum up, or something. Now, it sounds like you chased 'em. What the heck did you do?

Mystere, I politely suggested forthrightness--as in the Elder scenario--and that SW create her own forum (for deviant, non-conformist GSD fanciers?). As for those curious about the "Elder" reference, I suggest that you search the forum archives of the USA-GSD Yahoo group. However, in order to do so, you must be a card-carrying member of Schutzhund USA to join the group. People only become "threatened" and "defensive" when the shoe fits--JMHO.

Louise, I am sorry, but I must observe the irony: this squabble between you and the LC folks looks and sounds for all the world like the "work vs show" arguments with you taking on the stance usually "reserved" for the working folks, as well as the show camp. LOL Frankly, I think the "exclusion" of long-coats (with undercoats) from shows, surveys and the registry is counter productive and arbitrary. It has removed some good dogs with excellent working abilities and stable temperaments from the gene pool. I am not interested in the cosmetics, which is what the exclusion comes down to. Ditto with white gsds, the exclusion of which the wgsd folks now apparently try to blame the Nazis for. LOL Who really cares about a color unrelated to health issues or utility? For that matter, why were the brindle gsds eliminated from the gene pool ? (The wire coats I can understand--UGLY!!) :-) At any rate, there are European nations, including Germany, where the coats and wgsds are being embraced. As soon as the SV determines that substantial money can be made off them, watch the registry open up. :-)
