My favorite Jeff Foxworthy one has got to be Sinceyouwas.

ie:  Since you was up, get me a beer!

I don't know that I've heard the "yinz" term used though.

by Sparrow on 15 January 2008 - 02:01

Rezkat, it's strickly a Pittsburgh thing.  If you've never been here it's unlikely you've heard it anywhere else.  We have some unique language here and most of it isn't even close to English.

Do Right, that must be how yinz Buckeyes pronounce it, Cleveland isn't far from the Burgh, LOL.

ahh, I can't think of any "Jersey" terms that wouldn't be anywhere else.

Well, except for the whole "What exit?" thing, which isn't funny to those of us who live in NJ.  LOL

We come from all walks of life.  Some come from higher education, while others have very little.  This is a dog board.  People are getting their ideas put down every other post.  Do we need to correct their grammer and spelling too?  Has this board gotten that boring that we need to make this English Grammer 101?  Almost 100% of the people, on this board, make mistakes.  Nobody should be pointing a finger.  Why don' you guys concentrate on dogs and dog training.  When you have perfected training, then you can concentrate on how I spell, aceholes.

Buy da wey.  how du yu spell "douche bags"?  Was dat write?   (the don)

Well said Don.  Unfortunately some people have nothing to contribute regarding GSDs so they start silly, inane threads such as this.

AIR:

You mention your teachers never corrected you on your spelling of the word in the above titled post. Well, it got me thinking, and I was wondering perhaps what this country needs is a "No Teacher Left Behind Law" . Hope you took this reply with a sense of humor which is my intent!

Rezkat5 and von symphoni:

Re: Saying LOL outloud in a conversation instead of actually laughing.

I think you have invented a new kind of oxymoron! *

Oh, and last, but by no means, least, hey, SuzyQ: I see you're just as sweet as ever! **

Some of ya'll really have to lighten up a little.  Get the corn cob out of your dark place and have some humor in your life.  For goodness sake.  Get a life besides dogs.  Even dogs enjoy a new smell once in a while.  Not the same old yard.

This thread is titled  "PET PEEVE" HOW to spell : S E P A R A T E".  Didn't that give you a clue as to what the thread was about?  Why even read it or participate in it, unless you are just one who likes to put people in their place?  The two people on this thread that have chastized the rest of us for even participating or initiating this humorous dialogue, are the same ones who have made more jokes or have made more complaints about the mistakes of others, than ANYONE on this site.

I do find THAT humorous, if that was your intent and contribution to this thread.

Haven't ya'll participated in threads about horses, football, cars, politics and other sundry things, on this site?

Another pet peeve of mine.  Those that do not like anything mentioned on this site that has nothing to do with dogs.  Why do you feel the NEED to keep reminding of us that ?  Is it your site?  Are you the moderator?  Do you just like to be contrary?  Is there a burr under your saddle that just makes you a sour puss?  Or, are you making a joke in your own special little way, that is entirely over my head?  If so, touche.

Just click, don't pick!  (hey, I like that)

Do Write,

I don't think it is wise to criticize others grammer on any message board other than a board about grammer and spelling.  This Site is extremely popular.  There are more people signed up than you could even imagine.  90% of the people signed up here are LURKERS.  They don't post here because they are scared of getting their feelings ripped apart by unknown internet cowboys.  Now why would you add the requirement of Grammer and spelling to this refined board?   Now people, not only get ripped for their beliefs, but also for their poor education  or lack of attention while at school.

Do Write, if you know my style, I often dislike inappropriate criticism.  You are correct that I don't bite my tongue.  I will tell someone how it is.    I wrote what I thought and I feel good about it.    I don't think I need to make myself feel better by making others feel inferior.    I also don't want people to come on here and have to proof read their writing before posting.  I think that if I can understand what they are saying, then I am fine with it.  I don't see the big deal.  You people are so well educated, you should be able to figure out a broken or never-ending sentence.

This is a dog board.  This is not, on average, a highly educated forum. We have people that have PHDs, GEDs, MBAs, DUIs, and some that are 15 yrs old.  I don't think anyone comes here to be educated outside of dogs.  If they do, they're in the wrong place.

Maybe I took this thread a bit too serious.  Maybe I should pull the corn cob out of my ass.  Anyhow, I can't win.  If I joke, I'm not being serious enough for this board.  If I'm serious, I need to pull the corn cob out of my ass.

I can't believe that I refrained from posting on here as long as I did, only to respond to this post.   I love you all!  I don't know what I would do without you!
