LMAO yes,

When the heck was he going to tell you?  When she had the puppies?

Wow, I'd be having some mixed emotions too.  But, yes lots of work to do as time is running out, only a couple of weeks really.

We'll get it done and done right. Jackie is the BEST of people, my best friend, and a top RN with feet on ground and level head.

Maybe a bit rushed, but alll is in motion and will be taken care of in the best possible ways, no time/expense spared. Funny: she sent Carl to the lumber yard for "furniture quality" wood for the puppy box, due before bed tonight. He's a good carpenter. I'm betting on a museum-quality box by midnight. Ha ha ha.

YR- snacks are never an issue around here! In fact, too many snacks are more the problem! Shelley, Blitzen, Olga, YR, Rezkat5, and all the rest of you, thanks for your kind words and support! My girl is so loved, her pups are precious to us, we will do right by her. Please say a little prayer that we have a nice small litter!!!! I'll post again when I have had the vets confirmation &/or x-ray....jackie harris

I don't know why anyone needs to be ripping  ANYONE  a new one.      It will just make the ASS  bigger !!  LOL !!

HE HE HE HE !!!

I don't know where you live or where you will be having the pups inside or out,  but here are some things that I like to have on hand.

A basket big enough for 10 pups, the basket is a great place to put pups out of the way and keep warm while mom is having more or you are trying to make sure each pup nurses one at a time.

A hot water bottle to put at bottom of basket

A thermometer, to check her temp as she gets closer to having pups her temp will drop 24 -48 hours before welping

Extra Towels, one to put over the hot water bottle.

can of milk replacer and siringe, just incase

ask vet for a shot of oxytocin, and how and when to use it.  esp.   if you are uncertain if she is finished and it is the middle of the night and no vet clinics are open.

I like to feed cottage cheese between pups ,  every so often.

I have an old fashioned wooden built welping box with the side rale to prevent mom from rolling on a pup.  I like to put a sheet of plywood under the box and then lay a carpet reminent over the plywood.   The plywood and the carpet need to be longer than the box ,  that way the box lays on top and it keeps the carpet nice and tight .   The plywood underneath actually allows the fluids to drain and dry up quicker.    Then a heat lamp placed hovering over one corner.   pups learn to migrate to the corner or to move away from it depending on whether or not they are hot or cold.  The carpet is great because for the first 3-4 weeks mom keeps every thing clean.    I used to use paper, it was too messy.  I have tried shavings,  it would stick to the pups and mom,  Yuck !     I tried the pool, no rale and nothing to absorb the fluids.

Good luck !    Wish you and your Naughty man the best of luck !!

Its always a thrill to look at the x-ray and count the little heads & spines. Hopefully there won't be TOO many of the litter critters in the oven. ;)

Good luck!  Sometimes these things work out really well.  While I hate whelping puppies, I've met lots of great people placing them in homes and watching them develop a relationship with their dogs.  Haven't bred a litter in years but still get holiday cards from old puppy buyers.

Sounds like you will have a great time whelping the litter...have good drinks on hand but not too many!  I've attended many litter arrivals of my own and friends and we always had a little something to sustain us through the long evening!

I like to give the girls a bit of ice cream between pups, youknow a bit for them and a bit for me!  Keeps us going!
