DeesWolf

Hodie,

Please do not take this the wrong way....as you KNOW how strongly I feel about this subject. I have EVERY intention of writing letters. I am encouraging others to the same. Again, I know from years of experience you know UScA has swept things away. I don't think this will be swept away.  I don't think it helps the situation to tell people, who are willing to, and striving to make a change, that it won't happen. I do not want people discouraged from writing letters.

What I think is important to the issue, is that it will NOT be just working line people writing letters. There are a LOT of ticked off show line people! It is about time WE ALL, as  MEMBERSHIP stood up and demand a change.

I STRONGLY recommend anyone who is a current member of UScA to write a letter to the magazine. Write letters to the board members. Write letters to your Regional Directors and your Regional Breed Wardens.

Attend your regional meetings, and make she you have a delegate at the National meeting. SPEAK UP! we may not have another opportunity such as the one that has been handed to us this year.

 DeesWolf,

I understand what you are saying and I applaud you. I am just tired of trying to bring about change and nothing happens. I was recently asked if something I wrote here could be printed in the magazine. But I was asked to allow the change of a single word, which, by the way, would have changed the entire meaning of my post. I refused permission. So that is why I say letters will not get printed. I have written letters to the President before asking why one election that was illegal resulted in a dissolution of a region, but a second new election in the new region that was also not conducted according to bylaws was allowed to stand. I did not get even so much as a response.

I too feel strongly about this as I do about other things that need changing. But until each member has a vote, I must remain skeptical. As for how many ticked off show people there are, I say there should be a lot of ticked of breed people, period. Again, this cannot and should not be made into a show vs working line issue and sadly, that is always where it degenerated in the past when the same issues were raised in past shows.

I am tired of it all. So if you are the new crusader, rock on! I am with you. But for the moment, i have other work to do to earn a living.

Try 'em KCzaja! I think in my case they wish I would expire, in more than one way!

I looked at the first Dog on the first Video Amigo. He was not very impressive at all

He went for the Packwerker before he should have and was walking in front of his handler. Plus he did not release and was chamming on the sleeve

The Second Dog with the Lady was sniffing the ground as it went along Not good again, and the bite was weak, have not looked at more

I am guessing here that the Dogs have already done the Barking in the Hide Bit and it was the first dab at the Pakwerker, Over here the Pakwerker walks out of the Hide on the command of the Handler.

He goes to a spot on the field the handler walks at heel to a fellow standing a bit away and he tells his Dog to Down,  AF' then he walks a few Yards away to stand by the hide

As soon as the Pakwerker moves the Dog goes from the Down to go for the sleeve, then it goes on as normal

These were the scores of the VA-3 male at a January WDA trial:

SchH3 272----91-88-92!

Well, damned--look no further--there's our prospective Universal Sieger

I admit that to me a lot of these dogs seem to have a lack of training and fitness rather than a lack of ability.  So  I don't see at all why people knock showline DOGS.

But why should the owners train when obviously this level of performance is ok?  There's no incentive to put in the time that many of these SL dogs DESERVE.

UNLESS it gets to the point where every SS video is posted and the judges and USA get sick and tired of being laughed at.  AND when people are asking around about puppies they are directed to YouTube to compare quality performances vs. weak performances and have an eye-opening moment.  (LOL)

No Tess I was there. While the training was not wonderful what you saw in person was the total LACK of what is essential to the character and temperament of the GSD. It was truly shameful.

by TessJ10 on 21 April 2008 - 00:04

But couldn't some of that be training, too?  Like the dog that was FUSS'd into belly-slinking along (some dogs aren't slinking, they're anticipating the Platz command, but this one's Fuss command was more of a REprimand).

I'm just asking.  What is a dog supposed to do when "trained" like that?

I agree with you, though, that some (SOME, not all) of those dogs did not give the good impression of GSD character at all.
