We have to start with the trials.  The problem is finding out where and when the trial is scheduled.... if you are able to determine the date and place, the daily schedule is hard to fine.  IF you find out that..... one might fine one "encouraged" not to attend.  (or the entry fee is so astronomical that no one from outside would consider entering !)  IF one were to show up with a camera, one would most certainly be asked to put it away and maybe leave.  The other possible senario  might be that you attend and find out there was a whole group of dogs titled at a different time.... afterall, the trial does cover 3 (sometimes 4)  days and they might use all three days.....one of which MIGHT be for the public.  All regular attendees will definitely have a different recollection than you have anyway.  A list of judges....... well, a list was started by an ex-president, but quickly lost, forgotten, ignored?????  Who knows.

According to an annonymous letter I received this past weekend, I guess we may need to pay closer attention to the DOB's of dogs entered in our shows.

Great Job, Dees;

I signed it and I passed it along to my fellow Sch club members.  I hate being embarassed about the difference between show and working lines.  I work my dogs and  really resent when people say oh, they're show lines.  I hope this will help bring the show people on board to work their dogs more seiously and breed for more of a work ethic.

Great Post Ajay!
My dog and myself were attacked for saying somethings like that on another board.

"I'm not a member or a breeder, just one that loves the breed, and the eye appeal of the High-lines.
How would I know if the prized pup I want to buy, from highly rated VA or V dogs have real titles?
If the Judges have no integrity, then the system fails, this is the SAD truth."

I'm very heartened that the BAC is already making progress to address the issue.  I would like to say this however (and I mean no disrespect) it is my understanding that there was been organized effort over the last several years to try to move things in the direction that they needed to and that this year’s show/protection is one of the best examples to date.  If that is truly the case, several years of the national organization easing the bigger kennels along seems to have not been appreciated as the gift that it was, otherwise I'd think they'd have gotten it into gear by now.  I guess I'm saying that I've been told that the "it took years to get this far off track, it will take several more to get it righted" has already been in effect for some time already.  If this is true and I believe the person who told me so, when does tough love enter the equation?  I started out in a showline club associated with a showline kennel.  I know how much money is in these puppies, the imported dogs and the cost of titles put on by professionals and those done over-seas.  If there is that much money to be invested then there are the resources to do it right as well, if so compelled.  If people are worried about alienating the big kennels and they leave everyone, including them, lose - but maybe them more than anyone.  The titles, the Vs and Vas, the shows, this is what they use to sell these $2500+ dollar pups.  Absent all of the pomp and circumstance, along with the belief that is frequently crafted in each purchasers mind that if they wanted to, they could show their little bundle of joy and it would easily place at the top of it’s class (who wouldn’t think so with such fine parents and when a pup costs 2-3 thousand dollars!), how would the astronomical prices obtained for these dogs continue?  I doubt that anyone involved in the business wants to give up the cash, so absent the even more expensive undertaking of starting a whole new organization, maybe holding feet to the fire for a couple of years might not only be the best and easiest, but quickest way to get things back on track.   Just my thoughts and not meant to disrespect anyone else’s or their efforts to fix the issue.   -Calvin

Thank you everybody who liked my comments, now it is time to be proactive and bring the truth out.  Video cameras are cheap, so record the trials honestly without any comments, without any bias and put them on you tube.  The breed is in the hands of us breeders of the german shepherd breed.  Don't let the next generation come and tell us that the breed is not the same today, it is so watered  down that they have to go to another breed to  get a dog who has real  working ability, drives, and fighting instincts.  Let's help the friends sell the puppies who do an honest job with breeding, and let's promote the dogs who are good and produce well.  The video tapes just bring out the truth, and truth always makes us better.  If someone has a problem with only a few kennels showing their dogs at the Sieger show, then let's show our better dogs at these shows and let people see that our breed still can combine good drives, good working ability, and good looks.  Not everyone who comes to these big shows is looking for winners.  A lot of people are looking for good looking dogs who can work.  I liked the Temar bitch who finished last in her class and so did a lot of other people and I will help mary sell puppies out of the wonderful bitch.

Dear Ajay, although I don't know you, you would be one of the people I would seek out to get to know because I respect you so much and everything you have ever contributed to this board.  Thank you for your wise words.  You are for me someone of tremendous restraint and reason.

Just want to remind people, particularly the membership of USA, that we are still working on the petition. Names are still being added, as the word spreads.

This is still a good opportunity for members to say, they are looking for change. We know that there are other areas in the organization that are of concern to membership, and this petition might not seem as important in relation to the other areas. However, if we can make a movement for change in this area, we can do the same in other areas.

I remind you, that there are rules for this event, and to date those rules are not being followed. Suggestions have been made by several members. There are other areas of the organization where rules have been discussed, implemented and are expected to be followed, and yet this is an event where they are not followed, or enforced.

This is your FIRST opportunity to speak  up. Your second is to speak to your regional director and regional breed warden,  let them know how you feel about the situation. There are still regional meetings coming up where you can stand up, speak your mind, and hopefully be heard.

Every year I have read and listened to many of the same comments (as well as contributed to the comments) that the sieger show performance test has not been conducted as regulated by the rules of the sieger show. How much longer are we going to let this go on? Why is it some rules are adhered to and others are shown a complete disregard? This was not a local event, this was a USA NATIONAL event, the rules should be followed and enforced.

When  you put your name to the petition, please include your USA membership number. If you have added your name and did not include the number, please contact me so I can add your number. We still have several months to gather names, and be heard.

Thank you to everyone who has already added their name and can recognize that this has nothing to do with show vs working, but that it has everything to do with RULES, that are currently in place not being followed. AND, we all KNOW how important the rules are to the organization.
