i am sorry but i dont believe that their was no more pups. females will not continue to push and struggle the way she did if their are no more pups. i watched most of what happened. if it went down the way you said why didnt you shut the cam off? their could have been younger children watching this. plus why would you leave a whelping female alone after she already had one still birth. all it would have taken was a little help from you and everything would have been alright. sir i do not believe you cause the second still birth was not taken out of the whelping area. i saw her push that one under the newspaper. please post the xray that confirmed no more pups and if no xray was taken i am telling you that you should take her right now and get an xray. i just cant believe you watched this whole thing from am adjoining area and basically did nothing until kari m called you. please if you are going to have more litters dont show it to the world.

sue-ann that was a normal puppy until it was eatin by a distressed mom who probably got it confused with the just born still. the live puppy was nursing and moving around good, sorry not sick. the mother was stressed and in distress so she accidently ate it.

Last thoughts on this subject.

According to the breeders website, this same bitch had a litter of 3 on  February 28th, 2008.  My question is, did she display the same behavior with her last litter?

I watched too last night.  It it appeared to me for a time, that she was trying to mother the live pup.  For the most part, the live pup seemed in distress.  My first thought at the time was wondering why the breeder didn't confirm that the pup was nursing - and also  I was concerned because of the cramped whelping quarters &  her obvious discomfort  she appeared to by accidently lying down on her live pup.

and yes, I can honesty say that I could understand it more if the breeder accidently fell asleep and didn't come to the aid of the bitch...   I can't seem to wrap my brain around the fact that he says he was watching the entire time..which brings me back to the question I presented.  If  she had a litter not too long ago - this should have given some sort of clue if something was different in her behavior.

I hope she is ok, and I also hope the breeder will give us an update on her health since he invited us all to watch this unforturnate event.

Listen Sir....

If u knew it was bad and were up and had called the vet And was waiting for the vet to call then why did KariM have to call at least twice?  My guess is the first time she called the ringing WOKE U UP!  I saw and heard a beautiful pup makin beautiful normal noises...Your Female was in so much stress and distress!  Did you hear ur dog baking for u?  Crying for u?  Trying to dig?  That poor baby's last moments?  I saw u go in there earlier and take out still born and put paper down and ur dog did not seem to be stressed out because u were there... u did nothing for her .... u didn't pet her or even say a word to her!   And she did not seem like she got worse when u were there!

SHE WAS CALLING FOR U!!!!!  IF U WERE IN OTHER ROOM HOW COULD U JUST SIT AND LISTEN AND DO NOTHING!!!!   UR SICK!!!

And I'll tell u this.....I feel really bad for any animal that u own because most ppl when they know the internet world is watching would want to show their best....If this is the best or even half best u can do for ur dog SHAME ON U!!!!!!

I have been coming here for yrs and thru all the fighting and other horror stories, I've read, I've never felt so compelled to say a word...until UR LIVE BIRTHS!

I AM SICKEN AND HEART BROKEN!!!!

I'm sorry this happened - this is why I hate nature program - and am glad I opted not to be a voyeur so missed all the drama.  In retrospect It would be better to pre-record births since they are so unpredictable and not to broadcast them live.  A female eating her young is not unheard of, it was even discussed here last Dec here's the link:

I am SOOOO DAMN GLAD I DID NOT SEE THIS!!!!

I can (and have) handled death-penalty cases better than I handled just reading these posts!!

Kari, you are a trooper for jumping in as you  did and actually calling!!   THANK YOU!!  Remind me that I owe  you a beer ( a Guinness?), if you are at the World Championship.   I hope no AR folks, or mandatory spay/neuter nuts saw that damn transmission!

bOCHAKA:   What the hell were you thinking??? If the local Humane Society or the equivalent comes after you for this, DO NOT come crying to us.  You will get every bit of the same sympathy that was apparently accorded this poor bitch that you are breeding back-to-back.  Doesn't Dublin have some kind of regulation, if not prohibitiion, regarding gsds anyway?  In your case, it would be quite fortunate for the breed is there is.  PLEASE don't even consider breeding anything higher on the evolutionary scale than gerbils in the future.

Gonna be "Sleepless in Seattle" after reading this thread!!

Absolutely brilliant, bochaka. Now the entire cyber world knows you are a flaming asshole. May you burn in hell.

This sounds so cold blooded it almost borders on abuse, IMHO....

mygsddogs I was on the site for all of about 30 seconds.  When I was there the puppy was making noise that I equate to: puppy in distress, needs help ASAP.  I hate to hear it...generally means pup too cold, too hot, or dehydrating, etc.  I think others recognized the pup also to be distressed.

I am sorry to hear that there was a  disaster with this litter.  I am sorry many of you had to see it.   In the past when there has been a claim to show live footage a situation that we all know can go sour very fast you know it is not going to be good. The breeder was not using their brains to the full capacity that should have been used.   If the breeder knew or cared ,when the dog  was having trouble he should have turned the camera off, period.  I stay away from live footage.
