I don't know why everyone is thanking SUNSHINE for this. THANK YOU Birdy for starting the topic and caring enough to ask about everyone's welfare is such a horrible situation. My heart too goes out to those of you who have lost. The world has suffered greatly, so sad indeed. Melody

Thank u everyone here for ur thoughts and prayes. At this time of need all we can do is prayt and hope that the death toll figure finally comes to a halt and people can mourn their loved ones. We here in bangladesh were not that severely affected thanks to the almighty but otehrs weternt that lucky. Let us all take a moment to rmemeber those who died and also for those who r alive.for the children who lost their families and the familes that that lost their homes...Let us pray for them all and try to find some way of helpin them. Read in the newspapers that there were not many animals that perished in the floods. They say that the animals probably had sensed the danger and moved out well in time before the waves engulfed the shores. There was news that domestic dogs were very agitated almost 1 1/2 hrs before the waves struck. Then on TV they showed a stray that saved the life of a kid. the dog dragged the kid to a safe place. The mother of the kid most appropriately said that the pooch was divine intervention indeed. She was pledging to take care of the dog for life. Very touching indeed. And then there will be so many other heroic deeds we will probably never hear of....

Perhaps someone could provide list of major bona fide US relief bodies seeking donations.

by HOWDEDO on 01 January 2005 - 18:01

Olddog, redcross is a safe bet, and you can make online donations.

I was more thinking of some listing of Agencies on Board to remind members where the real need is - if you follow my drift.
