KTF,

It's a shame mainstream journalists are too busy trashing Sarah Palin to look into Barack Obama's background.

Con't

We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

This is an idea worthy of Hugo Chavez.

Northwestern University law professor James Lindgren has estimated that this civilian national security force alone would cost somewhere between $100 billion and $500 billion, or between 10% and 50% of all federal tax receipts. And that doesn’t include the cost of the brown shirts.

Adults are not exempt from all this, even adults who’ve already served in the U.S. military. "People of all ages, stations and skills will be asked to serve," Obama says. Will they be asked, or drafted?

"The future of our nation depends on the soldier at Fort Carson," he concedes. "But it (also) depends on the teacher in East L.A., the nurse in Appalachia, the after-school worker in New Orleans . . ." So drop down and give Sgt. Obama 50 hours.

Require. Demand. Never allow. Obama’s version of "voluntary" service is more appropriate for Havana than middle America. He wants to turn America’s students, and even adults, into clones of Elian Gonzalez, compelled to serve the state in ways Obama "will direct."

Correction: In the first installment of this series on Tuesday, the Luo ethnic group in Kenya was identified as "communist." The father of the Luo leader cited, Oginga Odinga, did espouse the post-colonial African version of communism in the 1970s and ’80s, and his son, Raila Odinga, calls himself a social democrat. But communism as an ideology did not characterize the entire tribe.

Friend of mine at work is scared to death....

His 18 year old son got a Military Registration Form. It is REQUIRED IF one wishes to Drive a vehicle & to vote.  THere WILL be another 'attack' and the war will be broadened...likely Iran/Syria & Pakistan is a major problem.   Only Pakistan does HAVE Nukes and 170 Million people.   (Girls are excluded from this registration as of this time, Im told.)

How do you like the war now, folks?    You wanted it, you got it.    Hook, line, & Sinker you fell for it.     Occupation is a real bitch,  isnt it?  Not too good for the economy either, huh?    Multiple deployments, PTSD, Depleted Uranium, Suicides at over 6,000 per year for US Iraq veterans.     Yep, The body bags will be full of 18 year old blond haired dead girls dying in another Faux War on 'Terror or war' of errror,  in some other  Unconstitutional Occupation, On LIES,  Pushed by the Israeli Lobby aka AIPAC.  Thank your Congressman. He is OWNED by AIPAC. They all are.

'Greenspan yesterday described the current financial crisis as a “once-in-a-century credit tsunami” and blamed flaws in the workings of the free-market system, something he said had left him in a “state of shocked disbelief”.

“What I really resent about it is that he knows and understood at one time what capitalism was all about. He went and distorted it,” Ron Paul urged.

“Now he says ‘this is the death of capitalism and what we need now are really really good regulations on derivatives.’ No, we need to remove the system that creates derivatives.”

Paul asserted that the Federal Reserve chairman, whoever it may be, does not have the wisdom to regulate monetary policy because they are driven to excess and are part of an inherently flawed system.'

"America is a truly great country but it is not fair in everyway,"

Life, KTF, will never be fair in every way, as long as human nature is involved.  That's a fact.  It doesn't mean we stop trying to help each other, on an individual basis.  But, if you follow the empty promises of someone who assures you he or she will implement fairness to all, don't be surprised if one day you wake up as a slave.

"I believe that Obama loves America and the fact that someone with his background could actually be elected POTUS is an amazing testament to the greatness of the US."

Ya right, Papers Please.

Obama says that as president he will "set a goal for all American middle and high school students to perform 50 hours of service a year, and for all college students to perform 100 hours of service a year." What he doesn’t say is that he’ll make such voluntarism compulsory by attaching strings to federal education dollars.

What is wrong with asking kids who get federal aid to give some of their time and talents for the good of the country? I think it is commendable. My kids all did/do so - and they don't even get any federal aid. We have taught them that they have an obligation to society as a whole.

In a commencement speech at Wesleyan University, Obama advised graduates not to pursue the American dream of success, but to serve others.

What is wrong with asking graduates to serve others as opposed to pursuing the almightly dollar without any sense of community obligation? Obama did this himself after he finished his law degree from Harvard when he could have gone and earned gobs of money. He at least walks the walk unlike Bush and Cheney who did not serve their country when they were eligible for the draft - but have no hesitation sending other people's kids to fight a phony war  in Iraq.

Life, KTF, will never be fair in every way, as long as human nature is involved

Mickey, I have been truly blessed in my life.

As I mentioned in a prior post that I believe people are responsible for their actions/inactions - whether it is buying more house than they can afford or in any other walk of life. But I also believe that we - as a society - have an obligation to provide certain basic services - one of which is healthcare. We have excellent insurance but everytime we use the services - and we do so increasingly as we get older, I keep wondering how those without the coverage manage to get health care services.

Do you know that just about every major social program which today is accepted as the norm by just about everyone was passed by Democrats with the exception of the American with Disabilities Act? You name it: Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, minimum wage, etc. All these programs were  viewed as socialistic and opposed by the right-wingers at the time.

One of the few pieces of legislation which would never have passed without Republican support was the Civil Rights Act. I wonder if the Civil Rights Act would be supported by the Republicans today.

Good night - time for me to get my beauty sleep:)

"What is wrong with asking kids who get federal aid to give some of their time and talents for the good of the country?"

Note a line below your quote:  "He will make us an offer we can’t refuse."

"What is wrong with asking graduates to serve others as opposed to pursuing the almightly dollar without any sense of community obligation? "

Not a thing, as long as you are asking.  When you require service, that is, I believe, referred to as "involuntary servitude".

"Barack Obama will require you to work. He is going to demand that you shed your cynicism. That you come out of your isolation, that you move out of your comfort zone. . . . Barack Obama will never allow you to go back to your lives as usual — uninvolved, uninformed."

I do not need to be informed by Barack Obama, nor does my child.  We can form our own opinions, without indoctrination.

Okay, here is the reason I did NOT vote for 'cain or 'bama.  As most students of the hidden, but true history of the USA as declared in a not well publicized speech to the US Senate by Barry Goldwater on the evils of the Banksters running all of our politics through the CFR and Trilat commission.  Believe this or not, it is your choice.  But the Banksters always get what they want, eventually since they took over in 1913.  Both 'bama and 'cain are under these banksters controls, one way or another.  These two candidates may vary on the "small" things, but not on the "big" things when it all washes out.

Well, to change the subject a bit, if you look upthread, you will see where some West Hollywood resident hung an effigy of Sarah Palin:

A West Hollywood Halloween display showing a likeness of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin hanging by a noose has caused a furor among some residents who reported it as a hate crime, authorities said Monday.

But Los Angeles County sheriff's officials said the mannequin sporting a beehive hairdo, glasses and a red coat does not rise to the level of a hate crime because it was part of a Halloween display.

Now we see all hell break loose in Podunk, Kentucky!  You see, someone hung a fake Obama!  Oh, the humanity!!!  Hate crime! Racism!  Man all stations!  Chaos!!!  We must have sensitivity training!
