I have been thinking about someday breeding my Czech female Xena to Eurosport K9s male Ozzy Barnero. He is an awesome dog and seems to be producing very well.  Xena isnt titled or KKL'd yet...I have to do that first.

I have also noticed that most of the Czech dogs are now mixed with workingline or DDR. I have not seem many pure Czech dogs anymore. Which is upsetting..I like the pure Czech lines.

Jyl,

I was just looking at some photos of Ozzy on the Eurosport website.  You are so right!  What an awesome GSD.  The head, the color and of course his performances.  Do you know if Ozzy is on the ground in the States or across the pond?

I beleive he is back in Slovakia now. He may still be in Ohio. I know that Taunya was having some semen stored there from him after the WUSV.  I just love him. He is an awesome dog. Eurosport has some very nice dogs. I really think that he would complement my female very well. Here is what the breeding would look like... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/para.utkoma?fadir=510084&modir=475396

Jyl,

That would be an interesting breeding, especially backing up to VELMI DOBRY Car z Kostolianskej cesty CS who is in my girl's pedigree as well and who I was excited about line breeding to back before I spayed her.

Be careful about line breeding to Grim though.  Again, when I was doing digging for potential mates for my girl I read that you want to be very careful about line breeding to Grim because that could get you unsound hips.  With Car in there if you want to come back to Pzs the research I found pointed towards looking for Titus Pzs.

The Titus/Car cross produces some strong working lines and you don't have the same risk (all breedings are a risk) of hip issues as you do coming back on Grim.

Jyl and RLHAR,

Just for grins I did an imaginary breeding to my female as well.  It came back with 5-5 linebreeding on Velmi Dobry Cordon An-Stat.  What exactly does that mean anyway? 5-5, 5-4, ??

5, 5 is the position where the dog in common lays in the pedigree.

In your case Falcon it breaks down like this.

Ozzy's dam Mischa.  Her greatgrand sire is Cordon.  In your bitches pedigress her side Indi, his greatgrand sire is Cordon.

So the puppies from Ozzy/Sophie would have Cordon in their pedigree top and bottom at the 5th generation back.

thanks!  what are the potential ramifications of that?  I'm not contemplating this breeding just trying to learn.

Anyone with Czech knowledge have any input on this pedigree This is just a hypothetical breeding. Pure Czech ped without any line breeding at all.
