How horrible, I hope someone can help.

Where are you located? You'll need a local atty, or one who's admitted to the bar in your state.

If you can prove negligence on the vets part of whatever the problem u can file at a magerstrates office first and foremost a complaint, from there it will be called to court if u cannot come to an agreement or settlement. It can go to obertary before 3 attorneys to decide if it should go to a court case or be settled during arbition of before the 3 attorneys. Present all paper work, any photos, dogs health before the vet touched the dog at such a young age. I am going on such little info here so i am guessing as to what might be wrong. If being neutered and it died u have a good case to prove and win!! If a disease is being corrected by a vet that would be hard to prove unless u can get the Breeder involved to help present your case before court to pay all expenses at least and the Breeder should be able to vouch that whatever the problem it is a first or whatever. but u must involve the Breeder also at this point and time. U must be able to prove the dog was healthy or whatever the cause of the neglience of the vet u must prove by photos, people that knew the dog and all good things about your dog before the vet touched it. email me from my site to help you I have a great attorney xState Trooper to handle anything I might come across during puppies selling or breeding but so far so good for me. I am so sorry about this for you, I know as I put down my old English Bulldog Oct 13 and her ashes on on the mantel of fireplace. God Bless and contact me please shepforu@adelphia.net

tcall, I certainly feel for you... how awful to lose such a young dog but what makes you think the vet was negligent..... how did the dog die... what was it there for.. I'm coming from a different place here, ex vet tech... we did EVERYTHING we could possibly do to ensure the health and safety of our patients and when we lost one, it was very hard on us...admittedly not as hard as for the owners but we still felt the loss. Believe me, I am not trying to diminish your grief or gloss things over... there are vets not so skilled out there but to me, it's not common..... So, do you know how the dog died? What was it there for?

Just FYI, you don't NEED an attorney to handle this. You CAN file pro se (represent yourself). It takes a lot of work, and a lot of time researching, but it can be done. An attorney may (PROBABLY WILL) end up costing you more than the dog itself, and in the end, a judgment is just a piece of paper until you get them to pay up. Once you have a complaint together, file it with the Better Business Bureau that represents the city they are in (bbb.org). It's a step in the right direction. Also, if you paid by credit card, you could stop payment on any of those charges. I'm a nurse and do work as a paralegal, my husband is a cop, we both agree that there are parasites in every profession. It's sad when something happens like this that could have been prevented (if at all possible). Negligence is not an easy thing to prove. You need to speak with other vets and get professional opinions, because in court, YOU are the one that has to prove something. Speak to all of your local vets and get an idea of how they might have handled it differently. Get written statements, if possible (email is good for this). Be CONCISE. If you wish, you can email me privately, and I can give you some direction.

Absolutely Kreighauser GSD, also if a necropsy was done and medical conditions were ruled out then that would help as well..

The problem with persuing a claim like this is the burden of proof is on the owner. Some credible source (I think you will find there is a short supply of vets that want to testify against other vets) has to testify with some evidence that the vet did something sooo stupid it's neglegent. Unless you have that proof through an autopsy or one of the workers at the clinic that will testify to help you in exchange for loosing their job and being unemployed.

Seem funny that in four days worth of comments tcall hasn't come back in with any reply or further info. Maybe he doesn't have (T)otal re(Call) after all. lol Shsssh
