Mystere

Tina, Some of the vets on that part of the state have and do tell folks exactly that type of information. You surely recall a woman from that area who had parvo outbreals and STILL brought her horde of dogs to schutzhund clubs to train, not mentioning yet another outbreak (and deaths!!) at her place, until AFTER training was done for the day. You know, after her disease-carrying dogs had slobbered all over the same sleeves the club dogs gripped afterwards?? The same woman who did not believe in vaccinating her dogs? The one that claimed if they didn't survive diseases, they should were not meant ton live in the first place? Oh yeah, and don't forget the wombat a couple of years ago that was selling parvo-infected puppies at rest stops and Safeway parking lots in that area, too. . Yeah, some of the vets down there are sometimes less "discrete" than in other areas. Thank goodness!! :-) I know and have heard nothing about any kind of outbreaks at Wayne's though. You are also correct that some new signers-on have agendas prompting their posts. I don't know the poster and have no clue who she/he, or sundancesharon are, so I will take the posts at face value. At least for the time-being.

People, time for some reality,SHIT HAPPENS,don't know him,or kennel, but look at how this is spread, anyone walking in a park where ther dogs have defecated and have parvo, you step in it ,then head to pet store buy food ,fido comes in,sniffs this shit that previous dogis shedding the virus and you transfered it.Now go to kennel to view pups etc. see the picture. One positive here is dogs that was treated and survive virus is immune for at least 3 yrs,so buying pup with shaven legs is safe.Question though, have you considered that iv fluids ,shaven legs, might mean something entirely different than parvo? Many things ??? Just my 2 cents

Mystere

I signed up for this messageboard to learn and thought it would be a place that I could also have some input.  I've been watching and reading the database for years.  I don't know any of you, either.  I still read and take in what every one is saying.  It's a little disheartening to be under suspicion because I'm new, but I guess that's the nature of chat boards.  I've never been on one.

People here seem to have no problem in bringing up warnings and I'm glad of that.  I am simply letting you all know that this kennel is in my area and I have knowledge of people who have had less than healthy animals from them and have been unhappy with the results of dealing with them.  I have no other agenda.

Shaved legs and IV are also associated with heartworm.

Nia,  I well remember the person you mentioned, especially since I had young dogs and pups at the time......  And the puppy mill case that made the news too.  Perhaps vets in that area are a bit more forthcoming with information.  I could imagine mine giving generalized information.

sundancesharon.  my comment was based on this is the very first, and still only, post by this person.  Part of what caught my eye was the "shock" at the number of litters.  I would hope anybody looking would see that when they first look?  NOT after they decided to first buy, then not buy.

All I have to say is I bought a puppy from Wayne Curry and had a very good outcome with him. It is nothing new with him having as many litter's as he does, and he is obviously not the only kennel in the world that does this. It was quite a few years ago that I bought my puppy over the internet from Wayne and I also spoke with him a few times. It was my first major purchase without seeing the puppy first hand and he was very helpful and answered all of my questions. The puppy that I bought from him is in my avatar,  "Zavien". He is everything I wanted and some!!!

I can't say this for other breeder's, as I have purchased over the internet and by phone other dog's that were full of health issues. I have since then been very, very careful where I get my dog's from.

vom brunhaus,A puppy at that age would not be symptomatic for heartworm. I don't believe they would have a positive test either at that age, even if they had been infected. A shaved leg means that the vet needed to have a clear view of the vein to either draw blood or administer meds. It means nothing else.

If the puppy did have parvo, at least it was taken to the vet. That says something  for the breeder I think.

I think the right thing to do would be to disclose this, but I guess that would make it hard to sell puppies now wouldn't it. Perhaps if it were me, I might sell at a discounted rate, with a 6 month parvo guarantee or something, and full disclosure.

For all anyone knows, if someone were to inquire about the puppy, they could very well tell you why the legs are shaved. No reason to post it on the website.

Interesting to note that the puppy's picture and info is now GONE from the website, even though the OP only posted this morning!

Many reasons why the pup's leg might be shaved. It could even have been for a routine blood test, and the tester couldn't find a vein on the first try, and had to poke the other leg as well. I do IV's on humans, so I have an idea how hard it would be to find a vein on a wiggly puppy!

Sundancesharon,

Please re-read my post: I specifically said I was taking your post at face value.   As you have been reading this forum, you know that it is not at all unusual for individuals with agendas, and their friends, to suddently sign up and start making controversial posts immediately.   That was all Animules was referring to.

Glad to hear you are a local gsd-lover.  Tina and train in Olympia, so you are just a freeway exit or two away.  Feel free to come out sometime.  We train on Sundays and Thursdays.
