MVF

Btw, Bodo v Grafental was NOT oversized.  According to GEB, he was 25" and was 85 lbs when Sgr.  When I spoke with Kuhn in Chicago shortly after Kuhn sold Bodo to Fidelco, he told me Bodo was now 112 lbs @ 9yo.  So he was a naturally solid boy who gained a lot of weight when not competing.

Men gain weight from youth (I was once a 193 lb decathlete and now I'm a comfortable 235).  So do dogs when no longer competing hard.  When Don was 105 it was 1985.  Perhaps before fully developed (@1 year, say) he was a skinny 85 lbs, but I doubt it.

MVF i am not wrong that was Don's size.He was not young when he came here. And he had fertility problems as well. I am sure there must be someone on the data base with the same data i have on Don. All these dogs have been over exaggerated in height and weight. Sorry i just do not agree

Don was approx 6 years old when imported to USA

The information on Don can be found on the WinSIS-X and it is sold by Bits & Bytes GSD Pedigree Research Yvonne

I do not think Pharaoh would intentionality mislead any one,she may have made a error but she is an honest person with no need to deceive .She has a great love for the DDR dogs it is quite obvious .

Yes, Don's survey is in the Körbuch band86 page 28. His measurements there were a) 65cm, b) 29.5cm, c) 78cm, d) 38kg. At 27" or over they would have called him over sized but maye he got into some miracle grow:-)

Please re-read my posts.  The only dogs that I have quoted exact hieght and weight are my own.

Royal Air used Don Rolandsteich and David Nebelholz because they produced oversized dogs. I am not recommending or slamming Royal Air.  I found them by searching for breeders that had either Don Rolandsteich or David Nebelholz in their pedigrees.  Royal Air had both.  I emailed and spoke to the owner.

I also ended up on the Tina Barbera/Shiloh Shepherds website because David Nebelholz was in the pedigrees of their original breeding stock.   They too were looking to increase size. I am not recommending or slamming Shiloh Shepherds either.

I spoke to the woman who owned Schulenhaus (she used David Nebelholz for stud often) and Don and Evelyn Simon, who owned David, several times.  I spoke to Evelyn last year after Don Simon had passed away.  The Simons owned many, many Shepherds over the years, it was the portrait of David that is in their living room. I am not recommending or slamming them either.   I am forever thankful that their breeding produced magnificent Shadow, who I had the pleasure of having in my life for thirteen years.

I spoke to the person who collected David's semen.  She remebered him from many years back and described him as an impressively massive Shepherd as was my beautiful Shadow (David's grandson).

I have the original of this picture, David was ten years old and a bit overweight.
