I guess thats why we still hang people. If we can do that why not  torture before we kill animals??Peta does suck!!No one is saying not to eat meat not to slaughter ,lets just find a better way to do it.

There are allot ot people in need of a good hanging. Spare me the million dollar Euths and electracutions. I'd personally pay for the boxes of shells to thin them down a bit.

Again, not one person disagreeing that animals need to be humanely put down for any reason, food consumption or overpopulation. But I guess if you club a baby seal right the first time, he doesn't suffer. It's the "people" that do these jobs that need to care and make the changes that need to be made.

Clubbing baby seals is just plain old wrong. That there is no need for and its never done right and its done for the wrong reasons,Fur.Not food not population control .plane old greed.Nature will take care of nature and keep the population down. With all the new fabrics who really needs a seal skin jacket??A good imatation looks just like the real thing.

Belgian People eat a lot of horse meat and it is not cheap,
I have nothing against any one eating horse or Cow or what have you, so long as it is looked after prior and then culled humanly
But of course we do not live in an ideal world and these inhuman people exsist all over the world
Animals will always suffer in one form or the other, more so in backward countries with hardly any laws for the human animal so you will get little change from them, in relation to the way horses are looked after prior to being culled

Kitkat,

Obama didn't win the election one vote at a time.  He first started with a block of 90+% of the 40,000,000 black Americans simply for being black.  Then he added several million voters who agree with his liberal policies and government expansionism.  His convincing speaking abilities coupled with the fact that he was running against a fossil gained him millions of young voters.  Add a smackling of disenfranchised Republicans who could see no difference between McCain and Obama and a few million more who were sick of Bush's lack of communication skills, and viola, he wins.

Earlier this year we purchased a cow and had it delivered to a local slaughter house where it was butchered for our consumption.  I don't have horses.  My neighbor has about a dozen.  They seem like intelligent animals.  I don't have anything against them, but they are her animals, not mine.  If she does not have any compunction against eating horse meat, and if it does not pose a public health risk, who am I to tell her that she should not be able to take one of her horses to the same slaughter house?

Truegrit and other posters
Could it be that you are vegetarian, and not a meat eater, well if this is right, then that is your  choice, but not everyone elses, since time began humans have eaten meat so if any of you guys are not meat eaters then please keep your thoughts to yourselves and not try and tell people they are wrong in eating meat
Now if you are a meat eater of beef , Pork, Chicken etc then providing the Horse is culled humanly then what is the problem with people eating horse meat
Now this thread i would guess is about the conditions and the way the horses are culled, and that is not acceptable to people who have morals and standards
But the people who do this will never listen, and i would think it is the minority who treat animals the way they do
Horses were killed for there meat long before they became animals for transport and work, and i expect some look apon them still the same way,
Sad as it is that is life, Your own species is still being treated in much the same way in many parts of the world even today, can you stop there suffering by posting on a dog forum , NO. you will not,
iI you feel that strongly write to the authorities who are doing it

Too bad these ******* people don't write letters and protest about the "slaughter" of human life. Can't have a thought about all the men, ladies and children we killed, but sure as hell complain about animals for food.

Steve1,

I never could understand that European horse-eating thing! I mean, they have recipes, and everything? Because they like it?

...for me, it would have to come down to Donner Party of none...?

I just have to share this great quote from another thread.  It just seems so very fitting here.  I have to agree with the sentiments behind it.

Kitkat says:
"...........

WHO CARES WHAT SOMEONE ELSE IS DOING!!!!

TO EACH HIS OWN!!!

Sorry, bad day but anyway,

Mind your OWN FU#k&NG Business,

HOW ABOUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Truegrit,

I reread what I had written earlier, and you were right.  Consequently, I have revised the earlier sentence that included the "S" word.  What I meant to say was...

Earlier this year we bought a cow and had it delivered to a delifing house, where it was delifed and segmented into more managable sizes for our nutritional benefit.

Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.  I shall certainly sleep better tonight.
