I looked at those Craiglist ads.  Only one sounded like it might have some horses adequate for what 4-pack wants to do with them, unless she doesn't want to ride AT ALL, or is a professional level horsebreaker with lots of gumption and a body that bounces upon impact.  I have broken many horses to ride, and I was a professional horseshoer for a few years.  I would not want this horse, even free, that was on one of those Craigslist ads.  I'm afraid I'd end up PAYING someone else to take him after he broke something on me that I thought was important! LOL :

>>FREE TO GOOD HOME!!! I don't have the time for this guy. He is a nice looking gelding, about 7 and needs professional training and advanced handler. Hard to catch, have hauled everywhere.<<

Can anyone say "A frustrating  and dangerous people piledriver"?  He'd probably throw your butt HARD at every opportunity and then run away, daring you to catch him, while he runs through the neighbor's garden doing damage that's gonna cost you.  BTW...I've had that happen to me!  Fortunately, I was a kid at the time and our neighbors forgave me after yelling and cursing at me, LOL.

BTW, I might have bought that one eyed old paint mare, if her other eye looked okay.  I knew an old guy who had an old mare a lot like her, but not quite as attractive, with an even bigger and coarser head...some serious draft blood in her. somewhere, she was just a mutt.   He had to look out for himself on the left side, but they did just fine on big trail rides.  He rode her until she dropped dead of old age one day, and he buried her in the pasture.  He loved that old mare.  Veronica

Addition:  NO, he was not riding her when she died :-)  (I just know someone is going to have a field day with that!)   But he had ridden her some weeks before she did.

AKVeronica  no, I wouldn't want that guy either, but from this (4pack) "That's what I'm kinda looking for again, more of a pet than a ral riding horse, not much free time to ride these days. " I thought she just wanted a yard ornament for a buddy... some are just not worth the mud on your shoes. Also she doesn't live around here, I just pulled those up on Craigslist quick, figured maybe there were some in her area too. That Paint mare actually looked better in the ring, I don't remember her head as being homely. I had just gotten there she was about the second horse to go thru after we got seats. If your serious on buying you really should get there early and check them out in the lots first. Here is one I bought years ago at the ring, she was such a nice horse. I called her owner and he was going thru a divorce, said it was his wifes horse and thought she would can, nice guy! She was bred and had a real nice palomino stud colt. She was fat, I know. My son was about 8 years old in the pic, now almost 32! Yikes.

I like the plains mustang, I hate to see mustangs at auctions ... they need to be put back in the wild. Right back on the soil they originated from, all rights reserved. Scare some of these thugs off the land.

Maybe I put a Cadillac Ranch on the East Coast  ...  LMAO

YOOOOOOOOOOOOOBBMMMAAAA

Just kidding.

To me sending your horse for slaughter would be the same as sending your dog to the pound or a puppy mill if you could no longer keep it.  They suffer the same whether you want to classify  them as livestock or a pet.  (And yes, I'm a vegetarian)

chicki I went to your site. Your horses are absolutely gorgeous! But what would you do with them if suddenly , for whatever reason, you found you could not afford to feed them any longer? Some people run classifieds, try to give away and then what ,when no prospects for rehoming them? I am not an advocate of selling at auctions, I have bought several from them though over the course of the years. I can just see the practicality of them. I think it must be just has hard to have to PTS a sound, healthy horse that you can no longer feed. It seems that maybe they would stand a chance at least at a sale...

Trailrider,,I have to agree with you,,I have a morgan that I've had for 8 yrs,,I love him
He's my pet, my buddy & My love....but I could not pay someone to take him,,He had a very bad begining to his life & trusts no one but me,,if I couldnt afford him anymore..I would have to do whats right for him, not me,,He couldnt be placed with the average person,,,I would put him down,,It would crush me,,but I know that would be right for him...at the same time there are many out there that are good, their owners just cant afford them, so they deserve a chance................. even at auction.
