I had done some research (obvioulsy not enough) and picked a breeder here in the US. She had 2 stud dogs and 3 females...I was told that a specific female and a specific male would be bred, and that was the pairing I wanted...SOOO-I sent my deposit to the breeder. ON the day of the mating, she switched studs because she didn't have the time to help the one who was supposed to do it....I did not want a pup from the other stud and told her so..I asked for my deposit back and she said it was non refundable. She in turn sold the stud I wanted a pup from...my ?? is..am I wrong in expecting my money back since I didn't get the pairing I was told...I would have never picked the stud used..

I think any ethical breeder would have been happy to return your deposit.

I would expect a refund also.

This is another reason why I don't do deposits. Pay for your puppy in full(cash or cashier's check) on the day you pick up the puppy. It totally eliminates huffing and puffing about money.

Brandoggy I am sorry to hear you placed that deposit and hope she will give it back to you. I too believe if you give a deposit with understanding it will be for a specific breeding it should be honored or refunded. But if it is her website give a hundred dollar deposit and get on the waiting list you will get a pup from the upcoming litters she would use the oh but its non refundable just sit and wait till you find a pairing you like stuff or will she let you choose from upcoming litters? Maybe the first stud couldnt do the job and was sold be thankful you couldnt get from him. If you get out of this situation with your deposit I am happy for you if not it is a lesson to all those out there to not go by false words in ads that are copy pasted from real breeders that truly believe in their ads and not just put what they see and hear from others on their ads to falsly portray they are a professional breeder. It is scary to pick a breeder and trust in them without personal knowledge its hard to know from phone and keyboard the exact situation you cant go by the webpage, its setup, and looks or just what lines they carry in their kennel. So many pups for sale so many excellent lines but I put just as much stock in how the breeder raises those pups and the care shown in what lines are bred to who and females in my opinion need rest in between I cant condone breeding so young and every heat. If you look for another breeder I know one who does not breed many dont know when she will have another litter but she is honest, and she did well for me. I am sure through others we can find other good breeders out there not just snatching up the bucks that really do care what they are doing. I wish you the best of luck!!

SGBH, I agree,I do take deposits but hate doing so,so much easier to just do it cash on pick up,then there are no mis- understandings. In this case the breeder should do a refund,or had made it perfectly clear in writing that deposits are non refundable for ANY reasons and will be put toward a future purchase. Got to get this stuff in WRITING folks,or it could end up coasting you some money Charlie Hey Newbie..Nice to see you!

I am actually thinking of buying a male cant decide if I want a pup or older this time though. Have any pics of the last litter as they matured? have alot on the plate right now so just casually considering it. Dont have your website addy to look up the parents or any pictures if you dont mind emailing that to me?
