SitasMom, when you ask for advice on a forum it is silly to get upset when people tell you something that you don't want to hear.

Just thank everyone who took the time to offer advice. Accept what makes sense to you, reject what does not and move on.

Sitasmom:

I,m glad she makes you happy it is wonderful to find a dog you hope will fill your needs. If and thats a big if I were going to buy a dog of this situation I,d (rememebr this is my opinion) take my helper (forget the scorebook existed) and put the dog thru it,s paces, take it to a very public place and let  the handler take it thru a public place and follow and watch. See it do some real agality but that is just me. I,d also do a big background on previous litters and how they are doing.

Bob's advice to take a dog out of it's "comfort" zone for evaluation is good for any dog, puppies included.

SitasMom,
Congrats on your new family member I,m sure she'll make you very happy.I also bought a bitch from a breeding kennel a couple of years ago http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/131741.html. She has been a joy to own and has taught me a lot.She lives in the house ,and has 8 acres to enjoy.Shes a completely diffrent dog now that she is free of the kennel life and actually has a family/pack that she can interact with. She had one pup,and I was as happy as I would have been if it were 10.I kept the pup,he is four months now,and was allowed to stay with his mom since birth. The first time she was ever allowed to keep one of her pups past 8 weeks. She has taught this pup and continues to teach him all the things about pack structure and being a dog, that I could never teach him.She devotes herself to him as a mother would to her child,it has been a real eye opening experience for me.I know alot of people would say that this pup would bond to his mother and not me,but I have not found this to be true. The pup has learned the bond with me thru his mother, and it is very strong. With her influence and teaching ability, this pup is easily trained, he just watches and learns,a training concept that really never occured to me.In closing,I'll say this the bitch is happier then she's ever been, the pup has the benefit of his mothers guidance and love long term, and myself well I'm just amazed and content,I feel like I,ve done right by her and I think she understands this and does her best to show her appreciation.I've never regreted my decision about buying her,she and the pup bring me great joy.                             Michael

If it's a really nice bitch and contributes to the breed, yes she should be bred damn near every heat cycle, as long as her body shows it's bouncing back. I'm not sure why man thinks he knows better than mother nature? The bitch in question looks pretty well put together and in good condition in her pics.

Not everyone has the want or ability to raise a dog up from 8 weeks to title to breeding age. Plus at 8 weeks you can go through 15 pups before you find the one that comes out with the health clearances and drives you want. If you already have a dam or sire in mind, it's easier to buy a match for him/her already mature, so you can see the dogs qualities and run pedigrees, than raise a pup and magically have it be the best combo in the end. Some of you write a very fairytail like assumption as to what is best.

Pups arent near a gamble as most make them out to be, it just really your decision on how much work to put into it If you go thru 15 or so pups your doing something very wrong.

I get a kick out of everyone bringing mother nature into this,  Man is making the breeding decisions on this domesticated dog mothernature is taking a back seat to mans breeding whims.
