You'd be surprised who gets hauled off and why Sue.

No to DC Maggie.
Chicago maybe......
Ya never know.

Those were different times and I was young.

I remember too, Moons!  Indeed they were different times.  I can tell you that at all the protests and rallies I have been to as of late, everyone on both sides has made a conscious effort to keep themselves  under control, and though certainly not friendly, at least very  civil.  I think the punch throwing and subsequent  finger biting incident took people from both sides aback.

Come on RPK, the one man propoganda machine is getting old.  Please stop using every thread to forward your personal political agenda.  Like I said on the Thread Moons started after Oli pulled all the Am Pol threads, we all know where each other stands, nothing you say is going to change anyone's opinion, you aren't "educating" anyone because no one comes here to learn about American politics.  All you end up doing is stirring the shit, so please - just stop.

Sure Sue, nothing potical here............LOL!!!!!

"Yes we had that happen at our Obama for President rallies and more recently, at our demonstrations for Health Care Reform, BE. We have had a few very angry people flipping us off and screaming at us, but we just ignore them. Most people actually give us the thumbs up, some even join in! It's been great! Peaceful demonstrations are a good way to express public opinion and can help facilitate meaningful change."

"Ironic, isn't it Bucko? Anyway, a "peaceful" protest is usually defined as a non-violent protest, has nothing to do with noise level, in fact by their very nature, most protests are quite loud. Thankfully not too many punches get thrown and even fewer fingers get bitten off these days!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not familiar with any state in the USA where the police haul off protesters for expressing their opinions, no matter how loud and no matter who doesn't like what they are saying. For example people harass, scream at and try to intimidate women who are just trying to enter womens health clinics, but that's not illegal because they don't actually touch the women or trespass onto private property."

Thanks for your above lecture and opinions............... I merely showed recent protesters to your point. I'll leave the education to you smart ones

Oh jeez RPK, you are seriously out of control.  I was responding to BE's post, no where did I say anything even remotely close to the bullshit political crap you posted a link to.  Get over it, the election is over, no one gives a shit what you or I  think regarding American politics, as a matter of fact, even you must be able to see all the rolling eyes when this crap starts up on this board.

Give it a rest - PEACE!!!!!!!

Didn't take too long for this thread to go to pieces, did it?  I'm sure it still has even further to go.

Not if I can help it!

Jim I think Windwalker brings up an interesting point.  I remember how shocking the pictures of the fire hoses and k9s being used in Alabama were, but obviously it could have been a lot worse, and conversely imagine if dogs and fire hoses had been used at Kent State instead.

Why were Guardsmen carrying weapons with live ammo on a University campus?

And why did they fire on unarmed students?

I never did like the answers.

I still don't.

I saw many things I will never forget, on both sides.

What goes on today is childs play.

I don't think the "international community" wants to hear about Kent State.   This WAS an interesting thread....it is very obvious where the posting started to go downhill (and it wasn't RPK's post).

I love it:  "They act as a deterrent, but when people come forward and get in their faces they are likely to get bitten"
