Shelley, you'll make it. I just know it.

by jayne241 on 10 January 2010 - 16:01

Shelley, you can do it, I know you'll make it!  Just think what great stories you'll have.  ;)

I'm sure there's way too cold for your tastes where I am, but if you suddenly get tired of all that heat down south, you're welcome here.  I'm sure Onni would love to see you again!

Shelley,

Just keep telling yourself that what you are going through is TEMPORARY!  This too shall pass.  Hang in there, know that you have lots of people pulling for you (an occassional asshole now & then makes you appreciate the good ones more!) LOL!

You must be one tough bird Shelley. Just keep puttiing one foot infront of the other one day at a time and before you know it you will be home GOOD LUCK

While I have known Shelley for well over 15 years, I don't think that autobahn's opinion is out of line. For me, airing my dirty linen on a public board and begging for charitable contributions on the internet would be the ultimate humiliation and loss of self-respect. It just could not happen--no matter how down and out I might be--period.

I might share my embarrassing predicament with less than a handful of close personal friends via telephone or private email. I would not beg from these friends. If they want to volunteer to assist me financially, let the respective conscience of each individual be his guide.  Set up a PayPal account? Never!!

There--I've said what has been on my mind for a while and don't feel like Scrooge....

Louise, I have been a member of this board for along time, I don't post much, don't feel the need to, but on this one I must say something, I respect your opinion very much, and I can understand what you are saying, but, unless you have been in her position, you really can't say what you would do. I have been there and done that, before computers were around! Did I beg for help? I am sure I did, just not on the computer! Would I have if computers were around at that time? I am sure I would of!  In life, I go by, never say never!  You just don't know what might come along!

I can't believe the nerve of someof you people coming on here and saying what you would or would not do if you were in the same predicament.  So easy sitting there on your fat asses in the warmth of your homes, tvs blaring, families bustling around, food in your bellies, hot water on demand.  Yeah, real easy to say how you would handle it.  You have NO IDEA what you would do!  You can armchair quarterback this to death but unless you are shivering in below freezing temps, worried about your dogs and whether or not you will all wake up in the morning and if you will make it to friendly territory before running out of money or transportation...you gutless wonders  SHUT THE F**k UP!  I classify you the same as the bastard kicking the little dog around in the elevator.  Real proud of yourselves, aren't you.  You should be ashamed!!

In this age of twitter, Facebook, and blogging, the electronic journaling of one's experiences -- as rough as they get -- is no longer uncommon, nor should it be the subject of judgments that might have been appropriate ten years ago.  Further, no one is actually insisting that anyone in particular log into Shelley's thread.
