Well, I know I'm not getting any smarter.

This pains me to say, but what you said about the dog and handler being stressed simultaneously is exactly where I was leading with my question. When NEITHER of you knows what to expect around a corner and both react naturally, then, and only then, IMO, can you truly say you are training for something real and not a sport. You also actually get to see what your dog really is...which probably 90% of people (civilians) never do.

Once you demonstrate a handful of times that your dog absolutely will work in a real situation, I find you run out of decoys pretty fast. LOL.

Some people get an idea how their dog will react under handler stress.  Just go to a trial or competiton and listen to how many people say "my dog never did that before."   When they go out to do a BH routine and they dog puts the paw up and gives them the doggy finger.

Lucky for me there are always new decoys to deploy my dog on.  We don't call them decoys, we call them felons.

I was thinking that we should be able to use felons as decoys even after they get locked up. Since the prisons are overcrowded, and we know sex offenders never are fixed anyway, why can't we sign up to take one home as a decoy? Of course, the rest of the time they'll have to stay chained in the basement, but really- that's a win-win!
