First of all, before anyone starts calling people idiots they should make sure the spelling and grammar in their posts is correct. It is a little hard to take you seriously when being distracted by the mistakes. Sorry, just a little pet peeve of mine.
I see a lot of defensive people spouting insults and useless nonsense about something they know nothing about. ISSR Shiloh Shepherds are not GSD's. Never have been, never will be. Sliver shiloh Shepherds, however, are part GSD and part ???? Who knows? Could be anything. Buy one and take your chances.
What Tina Barber breeds are the most magnificent, intelligent, gentle and impressive dogs I have ever seen. Have you ever met a dog so impressive, so massive and so gentle and beautiful that it stayed in your mind for 15 years? Well, I did and it was one of Tina's dogs. That dog was Lazarus. I had never heard of Shiloh Shepherds, nor had I ever had any interest in shepherds of any kind. I thought GSD's were nice looking dogs, but I simply was not a shepherd person. In my day, people owned shepherds as guard dogs or to scare the neighbors. Back then I never met a GSD that I felt safe around. No one I knew that owned one ever bothered to properly train them, so they were scary to me.
My dog of choice was Newfoundlands - big, cuddly, comfy, family oriented dogs; but then we happened to meet Tina and when I saw Lazarus I fell in love. We had two dogs at the time and not enough room for another but I thought about him for days after that meeting. He embodied everything I had ever wanted in a dog. Size, gentleness, intelligence, serenity. Fifteen years later, when we lost our beloved pets to old age, and we found ourselves with an empty house, we immediately thought of Lazarus and set out to find our own Shiloh Shepherd.
We did not know about the real deal Shiloh versus the sliver Shiloh but then we were lucky enough to find Tina again after 15 years. Don't get me wrong; we did our research, mostly because Tina was 7-8 hours away by car and we hoped to find a breeder closer to where we lived. Well, we found a few but when we checked their websites there was not one dog to compare to the image of Lazarus that was seared into my memory, so we went back to Tina's website and we educated ourselves about the differences between her dogs and the dogs that other breeders were mistakenly calling shiloh shepherds. Side by side there is no comparison. So we gladly drove 7 hours each way to pick up our bundle of joy.
If you would stop to actually read what Tina is trying to accomplish, if you really bothered to read about the background of when she started and why she started, you might just understand a little bit.
Tina does not market her dogs as GSD's. For Uber Land who mentions this statement:

If you read it she says breeding better Shepherds. She does not say breeding better GERMAN Shepherds. What she does say is that she is breeding shepherds that have the qualities she remembers from the German Shepherds of her childhood. She is breeding SHEPHERDS that are bigger, stronger, more sturdy and healthier than the Americanized GSD's you find today. She wants to bring the Shepherd back to the straight back, sturdy hips of the GSD's her mother and grandmother bred in Germany.

She doesn't care if you like her or not; she cares about the dogs. She wants a healthier, sturdier shepherd and because of all her hard work over the years, she wants to call them Shiloh Shepherds. Well, no one deserves it more than she does. She has impeccable record keeping and can trace the background and health and medical records of every litter going all the way back to when she started.
To the math whiz who bothered to total up how many puppies she has per year and how much money per puppy, think about this - do you know any other breeder in existence who knows exactly where every single dog she has ever sold ended up; who knows were every dog is right now and who owns them and what kind of family they went to. Not one ISSR Shiloh Shepherd has ever ended up abandoned or in a shelter or on the street. Tina and the SSDCA can account for every single ISSR Shiloh alive at this very moment. No ISSR Shiloh Shepherd goes homeless. if one needs to be re-homed there are many willing to take them in. No ISSR Shiloh has ever been given up due to aggressive behavior or training issues. The only time ISSR Shilohs are re-homed is due to ill health of the owner or families simply cannot properly care for them due to circumstances beyond their control.
Before you judge, do your homework. If you took the time to really see what she is trying to do you would admire her and not ridicule her.
In conclusion, we have been living with our ISSR Shiloh Shepherd for almost two years now. I have had dogs all my life and I have loved every one of them to death but until our Cooper came to live with us I could never have imagined a more fulfilling experience. ISSR Shiloh Shepherds are exceptional and we could not be happier. I cannot wait to add one or two more ISSR Shiloh Shepherds to our family.
Oh, don't forget to see the movie RED DAWN. It features two ISSR Shiloh Shepherds owned and trained by one of our ISSR Shiloh families. They were chosen for their exceptional size and because they were so easy to train for the roles. They were going to use GSD's until someone connected with the movie just happened to see the beautiful Shilohs and thought they were a better choice. We in the ISSR/SSDCA community are very proud.

"Old style" GSDs still had schutzhund titles and had to conform to the breed standard as far back as the early 1900s. Doesn't get much more old school than that. So, are you preserving those qualities, the ability to earn a KKL, the ability to earn a SchH title? "Old style" GSDs sure as hell didnt weigh in at over 120 pounds. I have not met a Shiloh who has those "exceptional qualities" of an "old style" GSD, if you aren't preserving that, all you're preserving is your bank account.
I could care less about the breeding of big wooly couch potatoes, they are handsome dogs to look at and keep people who want a dog who fails to conform to the standard away from GSDs. I think the existence of Shilohs cuts into the market of breeders who deliberately breed poor quality GSDs to fill a desire of buyers who care little for the integrity of a working breed.

I always tell people when they post on a PUBLIC BOARD such as this one (and this is a tough group) if you dont want to be spit at then its probably not wise to post.
THIS THREAD REMINDS ME OF A DDR-DSH POST. I keep thinking that its her in disguise.
The bottom line is that this breed is NOT a recognized breed and we are arguing over what ....... why bother. Ms Barber I suggest you copywrite your lines if you dont want piracy.

Oh, another embarrassing display of a "feeding frenzy" by the "lovely people of the PDB" -- the behavior here is disgusting.
Tina and ISSRShilohOwner -- The Shiloh's are beautiful dogs. If I had a bigger yard, I would definitely buy one and be proud to do so.

I have a question for the person who is promoting Shiloh Shepherds: Are these dogs hips rated by OFA?
I have no idea who the breeder is you're talking about, but there is a kennel near here that is just awful and it reminds me, www.heritagekennels.net their slogan is "we don't boast pedigrees but out and out quality" and "worlds largest german shepherds" They don't have hips checked and they are oversized and weak temperament. They are pretty much a puppy mill. Maybe similar to the breeder you guys are talking about?

ALL ISSR Shilohs must pass either OFA or PennHip before being allowed to breed. They also must be temperment tested. The test is the same as the one used by AKC, and includes a test for gunsureness.
I had my Shiloh pup out in the woods last fall when someone was doing target practise with their deer rifle. By the time they fired the third shot, she didn't even bother looking up from the twig she was chewing.
