I've registered here just to respond to this thread:  Hey guys why all the nastiness?

I have owned & bred workingline GSD's all my adult life but when I saw my first Shiloh I was hooked. I have trained dogs for police work as well as working trials & obedience, & I find Shilohs to be keen willing workers. They may not have the temperament for attack training but they are excellent in other fields such as SAR.   They are truly majestic in appearance, have wonderful temperaments but there is also something special about the Shilohs that is hard to explain in words.

I neither agree with or care about the political or religious views of the breed founder. I have not fallen for any sales pitch. I did my research & came to my own conclusion that these are the dogs for me.

The stuff on here about their hips is misleading - in general Shilohs have good hips as shown by the Pennhip reports - far better than any OFA report.

I have never seen a Shiloh drool except when food is about.

I could go on discounting your uninformed negative comments but horses for courses guys - if you dont like Shilohs dont have one but leave all this bitchiness to the dogs! It doesnt do the GSD any favours knocking another  breed with unfounded, misleading BS.

And by the way - posting in bold capitals is the equivalent of shouting - it's rude, it doesnt make your opinion any more valid & gives the impression you are incapable of intelligent argument.

That's true, Wuzzup. My bitch is descended from these dogs, on her dam's side. They're a far cry from today's American GSD, which is what Tina was rebelling against when she split with the AKC. It was getting just too hard to find good dogs to breed to, and her lines were getting too inbred. So, she was forced to outcross to other lines of German Shepherd (white Shepherd and  Alt Deutscher Schaeferhund.) Samson also came into the mix, in 1989,  to help increase size an bone.

She canot help what other people have added in .Her intention was pure..Don't beat yourself up sunsilver over it..You will not get them to see the dog for what it was and where it came from.some of us old timers know and we take that on our trails..WE love the ones we owned they can not take that from us or our hearts..

The most recent outcross was Artus zum Soehrewald. He is not in the database, but his dam is:

http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/261171.html  .

So, the more recent Shilohs may not be Schutzhund titled, but they DO have the potential!

It's all in what you want. If you want a tough working line dog, with the drives of a pirranha, and the energy level of the Energizer bunny, great.

If you want something softer and gentler, but still with the temperment to protect your family and kids, and the size to back it up, maybe the Shiloh is a good choice.

Here goes another BASH FEST,

How about you take the time to READ what Tina TELLS YOU. SHE IS THE FOUNDER of SHILOH SHEPHERDS. Therefore, I THINK SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. She wanted BIGGER SHEPHERDS, and she set out to get them. THEY ARE NOW, SHILOH SHEPHERDS, NOT German Shepherds. SHE seperated, that IS and WAS her plan. You all want to claim MAX a geunius because he INVENTED the German Shepherd. That was HIS VISION, and MAYBE YOURS, hers is SHILOH'S.

What do you think, she didn't know when she crossed breeds, SELECTIVLY, I might add, WHAT SHE wanted to achieve.Face it, there are alot of people that want OVERSIZED shepherds. You working dog people don't see that, you like smaller dogs,BETTER FOR THE PURPOSE of your intended use of the dogs. NOT EVERYONE WANTS TO WORK THEIR DOG. Sorry, fact of life,Hence comes the Shiloh.

She ain't soliciting to you to buy her BREED OF DOG, is she.I know a woman who just recently bought a SHILOH SHEPHERD. She Loves it. She wanted a big, shall we say, SHEPHERD! She was tired of buying dysplastic German Shepherds from unscrupulous breeders, guaranteeing everything from hips to large size German Shepherds.Only to get screwed, EVERYTIME.

Some people like a poodle, others a Saint Bernard, otthers German Shepherds. She stepped OUT and FOLLOWED her desires of a dog, and NOW what is A BREED. If she just Bred OVERSIZED GERMAN SHEPHERDS, Most of you would be screaming.

Anyone here put as much time, energy and research into their breeding programs as she has. Alright, some people can't differentiate a Real German Shepherd from a Shiloh Shepherd, there is a difference. She is not putting out IMPOSTER German Shepherds. Because someone buys a fake Gucci handbag, Do you want to hang Gucci????

Yes John, you are exactly right and that's the problem.  Shilohs in no way represent GSDs at ANY stage of their developement, not in conformation, not in drives, not in abilities, yet the Shiloh founder continues to use that sales pitch to sell Shilohs, malamute crosses according to Tina's website,  to those who don't know any better.  It's really a shame that she can't just be truthful and tell people this is a breed she developed based on a dog of her imagination, rather than making up stories about these being the GSDs from her childhood.

By the way, isn't it amazing  how Tina and her band of new posters always show up as soon as the word Shiloh is mentioned?   Sunsilver, once again you make claims about how these dogs are suitable for schutzhund but you yourself have never been involved with the sport, so again I ask, how would you know?

The truth is easy there is no seprate breed called shiloh shepherd it is a gimmick designed by the few looking to try to take advantage of gulible buyers thats the truth. All it does is further hurt the breed of German Shepherd by breeding well outside the standard.

That's not true!!  I wrote the Shiloh Shepherd Breed Standard  nearly 20 years ago!!  http://www.shilohshepherds.info/issrShilohShepherdIllustratedBreedStandard.htm

I can rap my big butt in fancy leather use eye shadow and lips stick and wear a bra and crotchless panties and high heel shoes and say this is the new standard for strippers but in the long run I,m still just a fat guy in drag pretending to be more then he is.

If someone wants a large dog, get a mastiff or Irish Wolfhound or DDR for that matter.. Why outcross the GSD to make it a bigger GSD, without the drives, temperment, working ability or conformation OF the GSD? Sorry, it makes no sense to me. The website was honest..these dogs are not appropriate and lack the temperment for Protection work. ......http://www.shilohshepherddogs.com/ ........... I only wish dedicated breeders like Tina would spend as much time working to improve the breed they seem to cherish, rather than water down the existing breed they claim they are trying to improve. There are so many good lines of Stable working GSDs, outcrossing to Malamutes/Guardians isnt the answer, except to add size & Coat.
