Whatever the impact, whatever the time frame, whatever the blame! It is catastrophic.
We lived through Katrina 26 DAYS WITHOUT ELECTRICITY, 34 DAYS WITHOUT RUNNING DRINKABLE WATER, ETC. but when we did recover (though the landscape will never be the same) we moved on the best we could.
This will potentially last for decades - that is the scary part.
All who had a hand in drilling this well should ante up - BUT OBAMA AND HIS BUNCH ON THE HILL NEED TO GT OFF THE ASSES AND START DOING SOMETHING PROACTIVE.
THERE REACTIVE CRAP IS FOR THE BIRDS - We have heard enough congressional witch hunting. We know the players involved NOW FIX THE LEAK.
Some say it can't be done! There was a time when people said a 4 minute mile could not be run. But now it happens even in High Schools. So don't make excuses, JUST GET IT DONE.

I dunno how to stop the leak, but they could have spread serious hay all over it and that would absorb it before it ever hit the coast. Scoop up all the oiled hay and repeat. It's not like there's a shortage of hay in America. Most the farmers would be donating round bails left and right.. gezzzz I use hay to clean up all my oil spills .. not a drop left on the cement either. It's actually better and absorbs faster if put on a spill after you spray the spill with water. The people in charge of this spill are stupid. Or maybe they play stupid.
Chemicals ? Ya ok. Lets just kill everything 10 fold while were at it.

Catastrophe yes.

I believe they could actually plug it, more concerned about the loss of money.

Initial study shows many safety issues. The live feed on the leak was also kept secret. BP knew how much was leaking all along and, of course, downplayed it.

How long will it take to drill relief wells (seems to be their chosen solution)?
Couple of factors:
1. Water depth 5000+ feet
2. Must be slant drilled (adding additional distance)
3. Accuracy - if missed - no good
4 What is depth from ocean floor to oil deposit
5 What is daily rate drilling (measured in feet for most wells)
At the rate of blow out, even with the amount of capture. This is an oil spill unlike any man has ever seen.
But as I was reminded lately, God, the creator of the universe and has never been taken by surprise by anything man has ever done. Whether good or bad and in His Sovereignty he can restore his Earth for He is the Creator, we on the other hand are merely the creation.
So, let's not get caught worshiping the creation and not the Creator.

I like that term relief well.
What they mean to say is a working productive well,
they still haven't given up yet on getting this one to pay off somehow.
Then they'll plug the damaged one, when there is no other option.

It is a lot of Oil, remember, most of those wells have the same safety systems, it could happen again.
If I was your God I'd kick somebodies ass.
You wanna prey this away go right ahead.

Be cinical all you want. The true facts are Obama ain't gonna do nothing - because there's an old saying around this neck of the woods. "You ain't noth'n but a crow'n rooster if you can't back up yer' words" And he can't back up nothin.
If he and his Bogus Cabinet could the "Annointed One" would stop crow'n and start do'n. Obama please leave the good citizens of AZ along the wetbacks need to be caught and sent back. QUIT ENTERTAINING THE MEXICAN PREZ (Oh, yeah, he is a socialist just like you.)

I agree calling them "wet backs" is uncalled for. I would like to add that calling them "llegal Aliens" should also no longer be allowed. ....................From this day forward they should be referred to as "Undocumented Democrats"
