Lets just kill everything we don't understand or might cause us harm.

KellyJ,
I agree it is very sad.
I remember seeing at least a dozen box turtles a year on my property, I hven't seen any except for dead ones on the road in over 10 years.
I remember having to rescue corn snakes off my fence from my dogs many times a ummer, I haven't done it in years.
I recently found 1 copperhead on my propery a few months back, first one in almost 20 years. I remember when we first moved here, they were verywhere, evey scrap metal or wood you moved in the yard would have 5-6 of the laying under it.
I don't even know if bullsnakes are still arond here.

The housemother in the dorm I lived in while going to high school in France was always playing this old LP. Another version of what goes around comes around?

What kind of statement is that? "Cause us harm" thats a nice way of putting MIGHT KILL YOU. We ALL understand that snakes are part of our environment that doesn't mean that we have to let them run our properties at will and harm animals or people. In turn we also understand that SOME snakes are poisonous and would rather not take the chance to run across one. When your yard is cut and clean and have dogs getting bit because the snakes are moving around when its warm then all you can do is kill them. You can catch them I have caught quite a few rattlers and copperheads but most people would rather not.lol The only thing I remember as a kid that I don't see anymore of are the Horny Toads in central Tx. Plenty of snakes though all varieties rattlers, rat, king, copper heads, water moccasins no shortage on snakes. Must have killed 7 copperheads in 3 weeks and no telling how many rattlers over the yrs.. The biggest rattler I have ever seen was about 13ft long and as big as a persons calf. Be careful out there in Tx it will be snake season for a while now.
