You appear to be preoccupied with the "Old" ways -- things have changed; people have changed; circumstances change.

Maggie,

Call me old-fashioned if you like. Some values needn't change over the years. These include honesty, moral inegrity, commitment, self-esteem, forgiveness, and humility. Some of these values I learned at the knees of my parents. Others I learned from my dogs. These guys have taught me that the uncconditional love of a true friendship has greater value than romantic love.I also believe that conflicts between true friends may always be resolved wirh mutual understanding, dedication, and care. Of course, with these values, one always leaves oneself open to hurt and disappointment from those whose acts one can't control and those without the same values.

So how do you explain working dogs while collecting permanent disability Louise? Did your parents teach you that too?
You and Graft must be related. You both hang yourselfs every time you touch a keyboard.

NS, you sound like Shelley's ex, Leon. who threatened a fellow club member ("friend" of vom Marishal) for not reporting midnight trials at Feather River.  There is nothing that prevents a disabled person from working dogs as a hobby--which was encouraged by my primary care physician. I walked with a herding crookduring tracking for support and required epidural injections for pain. Training dogs ain't rocket science. Look at all the damned former cops retired on disability who actually derive their livlihoods from training dogs. I entered my first schutzhund trial wearing a brace on my leg 8 days after having arthroscopy for a torn medial meniscus (suffered while tracking).

Yeah. Shell can really pick em alright. Think were shed be if she hadnt married two assholes in a row. Still in that nice house in YC where we used to have the pot lucks on trial wknds and meet for tracking any time. She doesnt live far from there now again tracking in those orchards again like she never left. Maybe well start feather River SC again. Too bad your so nasty to her now or maybe youd be invited.

Maggie,

I can forgive stupidity and gulliblility.

NS,

I recall Shelley's house on George Washington Blvd in YC. I recall first meeting Leon there when I went to have Shelley tattoo some pups for me. I pass on joining any clubs--no good helpers available or TDs out there. He was messing around with her old motor home.

You were late on the scene there then. She had that house since 1983 or 84 I think she bought it back when she was a jockey. Leon only lived there about a year or so in 96-97. She lived alone there except to let people stay there if they needed a place. I dont remember any men living there in the 80s or 90s except the guy who used to work for her at the office in YC and the pilot that died last spring off and on about the time she got that RV we used to take everyplace for years. But she always had lots of people around mostly doing dog stuff or talking about flying. Good she is back there were she belongs.

We all manage to survive pain while training dogs in the sport. Hell, I broke my back while roadworking  a dog with a bicycle. Was biking again 2.5  weeks after the accident.

Never knew much about Shelley except what I heard about her training with Jack Smith's wild old club in the Elk Grove area.

NS==Mimi Drake? Has to be she

Ah Geez Louise. Ya figgered me out.
