I was following this thread very closely without saying anything. Even a couple who *tried* to appear supportive of Aaron were unable to mask their contempt. I kept think "Geez, no matter how hard my son tries, he will still suffer hate and discrimination."
The first thing that came in to my mind when my son told me awhile back was how difficult his life will be because of this. My son is very young and naturally I want to protect him from it all, but realistically I know I won't always be able to.
So I am doing my best to learn as much as I can to be the best parent I can be to him.
I have a few gay friends and  I have picked their brains clean, trying to find out everything I can. I give them hypothetical situations and questions, so I know how to deal with my son without hurting his feelings or being "over supportive" or too nosey and having him shut me out... Trying to find the middle ground with a straight teenager is hard enough by itself  LOL
Ahhh well, I'll let you guys get back to the Bible, DOI and the Constitution, oh and dog fighting

Imagine if he was black and the amount of discrimination he would face from birth, by these bible thumping racist wacko's.

He will be alright as society is way more accepting than ever before.

Apparently you missed my post elsewhere about fingerprinting/dna-ing our kids and that if my child were to break the law then he would get caught and have to pay the consequences... A judge would then decide his fate.
Would I hide him at my house? Nope...

And Yes Raymond, because one is gay means they are also all murders and child molesters! Oh and also necropheliacs... What goes on in that mind of yours? Nevermind I don't want to know.

I truly believe that there is something in the DNA that is wired differently in gays than straights. In fact those pesky "scientists" are working on the answer to that since they weren't able to find it in the Bible.
Why don't you ask God when you get there and you surely will Oh Epitomy of Holiness will get there, ask him why he wired them differently

My two very best friends are black. Not "work friends" but the ones who come over and hang out with me and my family.
I know what they go through and have gone through their entire lives, they are in their 50s and 60s respectively... So they've been around long enough to really see and experience life and how minorities are treated. They have shared with me their trials and tribulations because I am their friend.
Not to mention my husband is Mexican (so it's automatically assumed that he is not here legally and came here to steal all the white do-gooder's jobs!) LOL
We laugh about it though because we have to or it will, exactly as Ninja said: consume us...  We may joke about it amongst ourselves, black, gay, mexican,hillbilly  (that's me! LOL) jokes, and how I am the "___-lover" of the 3.... No need to elaborate on that you guys know exactly what I mean... But the hate in this world amazes me on a daily basis. 

It can only be dealt with when society stands up and says enough. How can you bible thump on Sunday and go to the KKK meeting on Monday? Unreal.

Yes, children today are exposed to way more than they should be. It's shocking the things my kid knows that I am hearing for the first time...
Thankfully my son is not sexually active! Now that I would put up a fight about!! LOL I might even give him an old fashioned spanking, whether he did something with a boy or a girl ;-) He's certainly get grounded!
I did give a lot of thought to whether he was just confused, so as hard as it was I asked him if he was sure he didn't just admire men or if he did in fact feel (I died right about here--->) sexual feelings for other boys.  He said he felt sexually attracted to males... I considered that maybe he was confused and I know in a lot of ways he is, whether he knows he is or not, but he was pretty adamant.
I have a gay uncle and a gay second cousin. My son has never met them and since our family grew apart and is spread over the country, since before he was born, he has never met them to be influenced by them.... I do indeed believe it is genetic too.
