Just curious here,

Do all members vote in USA? All this speaking with 1 unified voice talked is interesting. So all the voices are heard Bob?

Not as easy as you say Bob, Mondio and PSA are completely different sports.  DVG is a separate organization and only recently has become an AWDF member.  Problem is, DVG is no longer allowing individual membership and the AWDF is basically controlled by USCA and in fact only allows one GSD organization to hold membership, again USCA.  So in theory, USCA is trying to control both SchH and IPO here in America.  Sure you have a choice, play USCA's rules or do DVG and again, unless you have a close club, you're out of luck.

Maybe they should change their name to the socialist republic of  UScA

And I am to know when you are being sarcastic and when you aren't ? Sorry, but you have posted exactly 6 times (oops make that 14!)  to this board, so when you say "bring in judges from different countries"  I must take you at your word that you don't know we already do.

As far as your statement "Who cares what the Germans think. We have some of the best dogs and bloodlines right here in the good old USA." Is this you being facetious? You are aware it's that kind of thinking that resulted in the monstrosity known as the American Show Shepherd, right?

Not socialist because you can still choose which organization you wish to belong to, if this were socialist there would be no choice!!!!!!

I do agree with you if you are saying you are looking forward to one unification trial for WUSV team members.  I think it will be a good thing to have the best of the best instead of the best of the best and the best of the rest.

I guess i will just have to sit back and read more of your posts before I comment further.  I have a feeling you have some very interesting and provactive comments and points, that will be worthwhile reading!

Welcome to the board!

Yes who cares what the germans think.  In ten years they will be importing police dogs from the USA. They made their money when americans where naive and did not know much. They changed thier breeding practices to make the big bucks off americans wanting big show dogs. and now they are no better than us when it comes WORKING DOGS. I lived there for 3 years. And there are good dogs and breeders there. But not any better then what we have now in the USA. No I am not talking about our show dogs. They are not german shepherds in my mind, And no I am not new to the board.  I just got frustrated with it a few years ago and stopped coming here. There is a reason many top competitors, and working professionals call this the "Idiot Board".

LMC, I do not wish to go back and search for the poster of comments that Sue quotes, so I will assume it is you. Correct me if I am wrong.

Who is it in the U.S. that is breeding these dogs that the Germans will be importing. Unless I misunderstand something, LEO and military around the world are lined up in Holland for service dogs, not the U.S. If one keeps up with slamducs posts (someone actually involved with the acquisition of service dogs) I don't think the majority of his dogs come from breeding of dogs in the U.S.

"Who cares about what the Germans think" is a very stupid statement. I can assure you that after many years involvement with the A.S.S., I care.

Rik

Rik do you really think most LEO dogs come from the netherlands?Have you ever been there? It is a very small country. But,I do agree they probally have the best dogs. But not nearly enough to support our needs. Just you mentioning Holland before Germany proves my point. Who Cares What The Germans Think. Most of their police dogs are mals.HAHAHA

Rik

by Rik on 06 October 2010 - 04:10

No, I do not assume that at all. What I do assume is that the most sought after GSD for military and LEO use come from KNPV. Do you assume differently.

If you wish to elevate this discussion from "discussion" to confrontation then please provide your list of breeders in the U.S. who provide these dogs on a consistent basis. I am in the market for a true working dog
and your input will be greatly appreciated.

"There is a reason many top competitors, and working professionals call this the "Idiot Board"."  Sadly, this is true,  I have been told by more than one, that I'm crazy to post here.  But such is life, I can only respond with another quote:  "some days you feel like a nut, some days you don't".

I am not going to argue with you.  Suffice it to say I disagree with you, and leave it at that.  While we do have some quality working line breeders who are beginning to breed quality dogs from their own home bred stock, most of the USA breeding programs are primarily still being built on the backs of imports.  We have not yet reached the depth of experience nor do we have the number of quality breeders to be found in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, etc..  What does the future hold?  No one knows, but of course, anyone is free to make any claims, from the common sense to the outlandish.  Only time will tell.

I guess in the long run those who will work together for a single purpose and goal will and those that won,t won ,t. There is a ass for every seat (as the old saying goes) I guess you will have to find what fits you best.

A unified orginization has a beter chance to effect change then 29 splinter groups but I guess it,s just depends on how high you set the bar for yourself and your orginization.

It,s not ego,s and attitudes that will acheieve sucess but the will of those willing to work together for a common goal.
