Phil:

What stops you from training on weekends? what stops you from combining your clubs get your people together and train. What club did you represent to be at the GBM and peak?

As to people who have done more for the dog world , Thats your opinion and you have a right to it but again it,s your opinion.

How did these people get on the AWDF board were they appointed or elected?

I am still pissed about that magazine cover from 23 years ago!   LOL

"I have supported USCA since the 90's both financially through membership and through trialing. When I am told that I cannot even speak at a National meeting and that I am to sit and basically fold my hands, that's where I say, you can kiss my ass. I "had" been a member longer that a lot of people in that room and have been involved in training and have trained more SchH and FR and PPD and Police K9's than anyone in that room."

I have heard this sentiment echoed by many people who were long-standing UScA members, some dating back even to the 80's, none of whom have renewed their memberships.  I consider it ungrateful and disrespectful for those who have relatively few years in the organization to essentially assume a, "don't let the door hit you in your ass on the way out," attitude toward these senior members.  Not only could the former learn a great deal from them as it relates to training, without their support for all of those years, there may very well have not even been a UScA to be a member of now.

No body is taking away there ability to train, form a club, trial, transfer knowledge...

This whole mess is about a handfull of guys who are getting there ego,s bruised and trying to bruise ego,s. truthfully No one involved in the commercial sales or training of dogs should be allowed to hold an elected office.

The take it or leave it attitude that UScA has is unhealthy.  If they truely want to be the best they would say belong to what ever organization you want. But we are the best and we will show you why.

No, it's about people who steadfastly supported an organization for decades and were subsequently shit on.  I would submit that these people were not simply members of the UScA; they were the UScA.

"No one involved in the commercial sales or training of dogs should be allowed to hold an elected office."

So amateurs and hobbyists should run the show?

by Bob McKown on 07 October 2010 - 15:10

Yes Keith, you would get a much more homest orginization focused on the membership, concern for the breed not how being a member helps line your pocket.

Definition: Amateur, An amateur (French amateur "lover of", from Old French and ultimately from Latin amatorem nom. amator, "lover") is generally considered a person attached to a particular pursuit, study, or science, without pay ...en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amatuer

I can live with that.

Concern for the breed does not equate to knowledge of or experience with the breed.  That notwithstanding, the last UScA club I trained with had Rotts, a Dobie and a couple of Standard Schnauzers training with us in addition to GSD's so the pretense that the organization is breed specific is a fallacy as well although I don't see them trying to dictate to which other breed organizations those owners can belong.  I had hoped to start training my current pup with them in the spring but now I'm not sure I can unless they will allow me to do so without my being on the club roster.  Sort of ironic; huh?  A guy with a GSD can't train at what they claim is a GSD club but people with other breeds can.

by Bob McKown on 07 October 2010 - 16:10

You can train where ever you want, what ever breed you want The club I train with also has Mali,s Dutchies, and the occassion rottie.

If a club won,t allow you to train with them it sounds like a problem between you and your club.

UScA requires all members of full member clubs to be UScA members as well.  Didn't you know that?
