Negative selling doesn't really work all that well.

if she was willing to pay...i am sure no one forced her to write a check...if i can get for my 2002 Chevy $2000.00 i would...but unfortunately i cant find anyone to pay that so I am settling for $850.00 and I am not telling whats wrong w/ under the hood..it's their job to do research and take it to a mechanic...no difference...person had $ and willing to pay w/o proper research or papers...she got what she was willing to pay for it...regardless if we agree or disagree if that dog was worth it.....

Hans did what he did because he could, so he did, and its done...facts remained just that..facts..

"Since all the dogs on the ped are very good" I would hope you would say this since the top and bottom are identical.

As a breeder of registered dogs I believe many of your practices should be open to public debate. I one day will obtain another GSD and I want to know what are my choices. I want to know that I'm purchasing a sound dog from an ethical responsible breeder.

In America it is not uncommon for consumers to expect open business practices.

For example: Ingrediants on a dog food bag. Rather I chose to buy Ol Roy or not I think I have the right to know what ingrediants are in the bag. That's the only way I can compare.

The only way I can compare Hans/Prager to other breeders is to know his breeding practices from his past litters.

Question? What's the closest relationship one can breed up under the AKC standards for imbreeding and/or line breeding? I don't care about one's on personal opinions!!!!!!!

FYI
You can cull a pup in more than one way.
Culling could be the following:
1. Putting the dog down
2. Spay or neuter
3. Selling a spayed or neutered dog
4. keeping your best and selling the rest (not my recommendation, but this is still a method of culling if you are only reffering to the improvement of your own personal stock, not the overall improvement of the breed)

There is nothing wrong with selling a spayed or neutered dog if a breeder is up front in detail about the reasoning  why.

It may not mean anything to you Hans, but I believe you.  I have always enjoyed your posts.  Thank you for the diversity and stimulation in the topics you introduced........and thank you for the empathy expressed  without hesitation to the dogs.

accidents happen.  I for one cannot say that an accidental breeding such as this would never happen to me (has never happened, but who can say it will never) and what I would do in such a situation.  I know I would not cull the litter though - unless the female was so young as to be at risk in a pregnancy/whelping and it became a choice between her life and the unborn puppies' lives.  For the puppies' sake, I would let them be born, crossing my fingers and holding my breath that they were healthy.  If there were obvious health problems at birth or evident in the first 8 weeks, then these pups would then be culled.  Healthy pups I see no reason to cull them.  But for the sake of being a RESPONSIBLE BREEDER as it appear Prager is, I would find them good homes with NO PAPERS - either selling for very little, or giving them away with spay/neuter agreements AND NO PAPERS.

The only thing I would have done differently had this happened to me is be much more upfront with the buyers.  Instead of describing a "close linebreeding and inbreeding" litter, I would have told them very clearly it was an accidental brother-sister breeding.  Then there would have been no misunderstanding or upset owners.  I'm sure hindsight is 20/20 in this case.

for the record I as a breeder have never had an accidental breeding, and don't plan on ever having one.  There are only so many excuses to be had for accidental breedings.   And I would never choose to breed any closer than the acceptable 2-3 linebreeding at the closest.

You know why I feel bad for Rooka?

Because she has always come across as a nice, genuine person and she has a puppy and like all of us I'm sure she'd love to share milestones in her puppy's development but how can she feel comfortable doing so when just mention of the puppy draws out all this nastiness?

Did anyone in this thread, flinging around this crap respond to the adorable pictures Rooka put up of her girl under the Christmas tree and in someone's lap?

No, don't think so because it's easier to just keep harping on the negative.

We have heard from Rooka, she loves her puppy, she was offered her money back, she wants to keep and enjoy her puppy.

We have heard from Hans on how the litter came to be, how the litter has been dispersed and what steps he took to address any concerns Rooka had after the fact.

ENOUGH!

Let's let Rooka just enjoy her puppy and let's enjoy her puppy with her, the way we do for all other members on this board and if you just can't be positive then just go play with your dog.
