Personally I would rather trust my life to some of these untrained dogs before trusting it to many of these dogs being sold by trainers who do not really have a clue what they are doing.

We finally agree on something SSG

Open it slowly then stop part way then slowly then stop.

With a metal bar? Back in the old days of pop locks and hand rolling windows, I became good at opening the car door with a metal hanger when I locked my keys inside. Dumb kid that I was, lol!

We agree that you don't known what you are doing and are going to get someone hurt or killed? COOL

Years ago I had an amazingly protective dog, not trained... who put the Surveyer in his truck, and wouldn't let him get out to get his equipment at the enterance to my driveway.  She wasn't a barking fool... but chased, and nipped his heels in to his truck then lay 6' away and watched him. He finally had to go to the Town Hall and have them call me @ work to call her off so he could get his stuff.  I introduced them, and she got a good pet and scratch from him to his amazement... his coment.... "Lady!!  That Dog's got teeth all the way back to her eyeballs"

Would she have been a deterent dog, yes.  I might consider her a PPD as I did have 100% verbal control over her, but would only call them a PPD with training (by me or someone else).  The issue is that there are many people calling themselves "trainers" and selling dogs as "trained" that shouldn't be.  I suppose that'll end up being legislated and government controled by people who don't know a damn thing about either dogs or training.

My neighborhood already requires you to have a permit to own a dog that is "trained to bite."  I think they passed the ordinance because we've got a Pitt Bull "breeder" who "trains" his dogs right out in the front yard, but it's making me rethink doing Schutzhund with my new pup.  I do NOT want my dog on a "bite trained dog" list somewhere.

Actually it is about the people who think they need PPD's. WHY are there  so many? The ads love to proclaim PPD, because they can always charge more. Buyer beware if you are reading this thread because what that means is variable.

Already stated that I do not put videos up. No reason to.

I simply pointed out the obvious!

If you have untrained dog that bites are you less liable than if you have trained protection dog that bites? "Trained PPD" means that dog better be trained to the hilt for many reasons. Many people are probably better off from a liable standpoint with an untrained dog that may protect than a trained PPD. "The dog came out of nowhere" sounds better than "thats when I said SICK EM GATOR!"

To piggyback, seriously people....do you think it's at all smart to post videos of your dogs doing protection work? I think it's a good think all your "protection videos" look just like "sport videos" (to me, anyway, but hey, I'm just a dumb girl) because if you did anything for real, anything at all that might show you something about that dog, or even resemble anything close to a real situation with real pressure on both dog and handler, you'd have to be totally freaking INSANE to even take a video of it, let alone post it on the internet! Unless of course, you want PETA, HSUS, ASPCA, et al on your back and may God help you if your dog ever bites someone, justified or not! I would/will NEVER post anything proving the training any of my dogs have gone through. I will post SchH pictures of my one bitch, but I would never ever ever ever even if hell froze over post anything "real."

So, if you ever happen to do any training of substance, keep that in mind. Don't let your ego cost you millions when one of your ill-trained, poor-temperamented dogs nails someone and some attorney for the prosecution finds a video. Just sayin'.

And this, my friends, is my last post on this topic, because it's going nowhere, and I am quite bored. Oh, and my new netflix movie is here as well as my new Juicy Couture hat. Yay.
