What age should a breeder send the pups to their new home 6 weeks? 8 weeks  or more?

What age do you prefer and what are your reasons for doing so?

I think the law is: 8 weeks old...

...but rules were meant to be broken...

I think it depends on the Litter...are they weaned and on their own...what experience the new owners have with this breed or a large breed and do they feel comfortable with taking care of a young puppy...

Never before 8 weeks...the period between 6 and 8 weeks is crucial in their early development and they should spend this time with their mother and littermates.

California is banning  the buying of    100 watt light bulbs immediately?

WHAT is next?

A LAW about pups being sold before * weeks.?

Another person on a government payroll not needed.   AKC  registers any dog application sent in to them..they never reject any application of any age...submitted with a date that clearly shows how old the pup was and thousands sold every week under 8 weeks old..
Hard to prove what age the pup actually left the premises..If you take a contract at 5 weeks of age and make a downpayment...is a government agency gonna visit you and ask to see the pup at 7 1/2 weeks old to see if the pup is still on your premises????

Confusing to say the least..

Mine go( went) home at 7 weeks very often. I DO NOT BREED anymore.

I prefer to evaluate at 10-12 weeks for the ones that I want to keep. I know by this age which show good working promise. It's not usually feasible to keep a whole litter until this age, though.

Definitely never before 8 weeks.

Some very experienced people request theirs at 7 weeks. I have obliged 2 of them. The rest go at 8, as yes, the law dictates;-) They also must be 8 weeks to ship.

I have also kept a few nasty buggers as long as 6-7mos until I found them the right home. ;-)
