I only dosed her once because it cleared up,  if you read it carefully it says something about repeating in 7 days if there are still symptoms.

Where can you acquire this product?

Justk9s

Again, read the article very carefully, it gives you all the information.  The link to order it, dosing, the correct mg to order as there are two different types and why the use one instead of the other.  I just want people to know there is a product, and to follow the directions as it is stated.

I run an animal shelter and deal with giardia on a daily basis 365 days a year. Metranidizole anitibiotics work. If you use Panacur it must be for at least 5 days in a row, but Metranidizole works much better. The dogs should be on a 10 days course minimum and there is likely the need to repeat. There is certainly no need to euthanize for giardia, although it can be frustrating. Probiotics help a great deal to ease the digrestive track and get things running "right" again but do NOT replace the need for metranidizole. This is a common drug, I am surprised your vet didn't hand it to you right away. It will work.

Metronidazole is now considered to be 40% effective against Giardia  It works only until the dog stops taking it for the other 60% of the dogs with Giardia.  According to my vet, that leads to it going into a recurring chronic state.

I had a dog who was on repeated doses of Flagyll for almost a year and a half.  Several people who worked at a very large ASPCA kennel  told me to use Panacur for 5 days and then repeat in seven days.  It worked and the nightmare was over.  They no longer used Flagyll because it was not effective and caused rage incidents.

I know a dog who was on Flagyll for almost three years and it kept coming back when not on Flagyll until she changed vets and got Panacur.  That was two years ago and the dog is still clear.  The dogs temperament has also changed drastically for the better.  She doesn't bite people any more.

I have heard very good reports on the use of Baycox from people who know what they are doing,  If it turns out to be true that Baycox kills BOTH Giardia and Coccidia, this could vastly improve the lives of puppies as a preventive.
