Oh, oh, oh, I know the answer! Do we teach him to love us?

by ALPHAPUP on 18 March 2011 - 16:03

Nayyyyyyyy ... i wouldn't advise that !! ....  before ya know it , ... you'd be sending  da dawg to the blind and next , you'll see  .. he'll be exhibiting gay tendencies ..  NAWWW -- forget about the love .. [ no offense some of the best folks i encountered are gay and they hadle canines quite wll ...  ]

I teach the blind search as a obedience exercise. I also teach the dog he must go into the blind on the upfield side and then loop back around to keep him tight on the blind search. I taught my young dog the basics in 3 days this winter and made a short video for some friends that wanted to teach the blinds the way I do.  In 3 days he is running 6 blinds (well 5, I never send him to blind 6 unless there is a helper there), going in the correct way and tight, now just to spread them wider and have him run the blinds 50 times perfectly before he ever sees a helper on the field for a blind search......Here is the video ...... If you choose this metheod to use and want to ask some questions feel free to PM me....

Ive seen the method described by EUROSHEPHERDS, some guys in our group have been doing it this way and it's been working really nicely.  Very clear for the dogs, they get it.

This is a short video of my female working on her blinds, she is NOT finished by any means, we have ways to go but this part is the OB part, no helper in the picture.
