Bump for Karyn

by jeffseele on 22 June 2011 - 02:06

I see your having trouble training her. It's unnessasary getting her professionally trained as I've always trained my pets by myself. My border collie was hard to train, but they have always been known for that. You are doing the right thing with training your dog. When she poops inside, say "bad girl/boy" and point to the accident. Keep saying bad with a mean tone, until they look guilty and know it's bad. Then clean it up. When your dog does their wees and poos outside, praise and reward them. With attention, hugs, treats, and "good girl/boy" keep saying this is a happy cute tone so it knows it did something good. Dogs recognize tone and small words such as "good girl" "sit" etc. They wouldn't understand an sentance. Say words clearly. Tone and body language speaks pounder than words. Make sure you use your words and tone correctly. Saying "good girl/boy" in a mean tone will confuse them. Keep it simple. A step at a time. Train your puppy young, it is better now than later. You are doing an excellent job so far . This is a fast and nessasary way to train your pup. You can use this method for other things to. Such as if it growls. Say "bad!!" remember the tone. (growls at you, the owner). Remember, you are the owner. Dogs think of you an the other members of the household as a pack. It's their nature. I you allow them to eat dinner with you at the table, the pup will automatically think they are at the same level as you. Its the same as where they sleep, if they sleep in your bed, puppy will think they are an equal. I, myself let my dog sleep on my bed. But only when I let her. I give her the signal or look to allow her. Or say "common then!" when she is a little older, teach her other commands, such as "sit" "lay down" "stay" "get in bed" are useful commands, then add your own! "roll over" just for fun. Use the method I've shown you. And with exercise, walk them whenever you can. For an hour or longer than 15 minuets. Preferably daily. When older. And can be left unsupervised, lat them rome free in the garden, or if you have one of those long 10+ metro leads, hook it to the door and let them sniff around the garden. But check from time to time. Also, make sure your property is fenced off so it can't run away. If it isn't, then train them to be very obedient so that they won't. Ododience is useful in other ways, they become loyal, trusted, honest and friendly. Do you have toys? Such as teddies or squeaky toys? If not, they are available at a two dollar/pound store. Please register at a local vet, so of they become I'll, you can get then treated ASAP. Also talk to your vet about their dietary needs. My dog is on a prescription diet, it lasts 3 months for 90 dollars, but prevents future illnesses and provides excellent health. It is worth it as they can live a lot longer. Also, dogs should be taken yearly to the vet for a checkup. They will always give you advice e.g clip the dogs toe nails etc. And how much they should be fed. Dogs are very sensitive a require attention and affection. Only shout and disipline them when nessasary, and how I showed you. I do not believe in hitting as it causes various problems. I hope I helped you, all the best for your puppy.
