I want to start training Tagan fun tricks. I was going to use treats to motivate him. Any one have any ideas what would be irrisistable to him? What about raw treats; beef or chicken liver? How would I prepare raw treats for him?

String cheese is a favorite here,,

Last night we used cheese(only thing I had in the fridge).  He did like it a lot. Tagan isn't a fetching dog. I found some videos on you tube how to teach him to fetch with a clicker.  We haven't got to the fetching part yet. I was able to get him to pick up the toy and hold it for a few seconds. When he picked up the toy I would click and then treat him with the cheese. The method we found is working great. Today we are going to work on holding the toy for longer and then I'm going to back up as he brings it to me. I believe I will have him fetching within the next couple of days.

Hot dogs cut into tiny pieces, cut up chicken breast, string cheese works here as well ;-) I never use store bought treats.

I feed a raw diet, but have never tried to use raw treats as it seems like it would be difficult...slimy liver pieces are hard to get a grip on! I would be interested to hear if anyone uses or has tried to use raw meat in training.

I seen some videos of a trainer using raw meat. I don't know what kind it was, but it looked dark like liver. I have never fed my dogs raw meat before. I worry it could be dangerous. I know a lot of people do feed raw to their dogs and they seem to do well with it. I also worry about the sanitation of me handling the meat raw meat for that period of time and not being able to wash my hands quickly.
