steve, you must have some deep rooted guilt or something.  dry noses?  you're basing your argument of diet on dry noses?  did you think maybe, just possibly, dry noses also have to do with the envoronment?  could it be possible that the last two look like they have dry noses because they were parading around in heat and dust for several hours at an adoption event?  if i was rolling around in dust all day, i would look kinda dry too, lol.  maybe you should just call up my vet and tell him about their dry noses.  my vet, who is NOT pro-raw but is amazed at how well they're doing.

here they are rolling around in dirt trying to find homes.  look, his pads are kind of dry too.  must mean i should switch him to orijen fish.

here's a shiny wet nose for you after getting cleaned up halfway through the adoption event.

here's a closeup, any wetter would just be snot.

and i never called your dog shit eaters.  i was just repeating what molly said - all her boarders eat crap food like dog chow and kibbles and bits.  nor did i say there was anything wrong with your dogs in particular.

so defensive.

and don't call me sonny, gramps.  lol.

vom marischal, good point, lol.  but if you think about it...if the general public informed and wasn't so stubborn, and demanded more and better, then the pet food industry would have to start getting their act together.  and if they got their act together, raw diets would be more readily available (and possibly more economical) to people like steve.

natural food is always better than processed food.  not everyone in the usa is obese, but don't you find it odd that we are one of the most obese countries on the planet...and we have more cheap processed food available to us than anyone else.

Be careful! Raw meat will teach those pits to be vicious! LOL LOL
Cute dogs.

There is a lot of truth in the nose condition of the dog.  That is always one of my first indicators when a diet is not working with any of my dogs from my experiences. The nose almost always is the very 1st place I will notice any change. Not to say this happens automatically in every dog but I have seen this many times. Wet cold noses is what I want to see....warm hearts.  A dry nose quickly tells me something is being missed. However you get there is however you get there and I know like Molly has stated some dogs can be fed absolute crap their whole lives, have beautiful coats and never a problem. At the same time other dogs would not be able to tolerate even a week on the same food. I know a lady here who I have come to know at my local grocery store. She had just had to put down her Rottweiler of 17 years of age. No lumps, bumps, tumors of any kind... never sick .... just a very very old dog that lived a good life. I know this gal is not really big into knowing much about dogs other than this was her dog and she fed him everyday he loved eating and she loved him dearly. My next comment  to her after my condolences was...... 17 Years!!!! What did you feed that boy!! Her Answer: "Gravy Train"  She bought it right there in the grocery store next to the Alpo and the Special Large Chunk Dog food. She said he LOVED IT!! So really what can you say. I was a vet tech for 17 years working in a vet hospitals that also did boarding. I also saw people bring in Shiny Healthy dogs along with their crap bags food we were to feed them in their absence.  My point really is to each his own. I don't have to agree with it and I would not feed it to my dogs. Some dogs are just very healthy dogs no matter what rendered chemical corn based by-product meat they are served. Other dogs can eat raw and ultra premium foods and still have allergies and skin and ear problems or other issues, get cancer anyway and other diseases you can not predict even under the best of care. Its not a gurantee.  I personally choose to feed foods that I feel good about feeding that give the results in my dogs that I like to see. Bright eyes, shiny coats, good muscle and physical condition, no odor..... this has always been another indicator for me. I don't bathe my dogs but their fur always smells sweet and does not have doggy odor. When I have fed a lessor quality foods when I have been in a bind, since my food bill is around 800 a month and sometimes that can be hard to squeeze...but switching say to something out at Costco that I have done and would do in a crunch if I absolutely had to again... but one of the first changes next to a dry nose I begin to notice is a little more of an odor or dog smell and a little chalky look to the coat. Sometimes subtle and they are usually not on it long enough before I get them back on foods where I get my wet noses back.  After 17 years as a Vet Tech ( had to get out of that for awhile ) but I am now working at a K9 Training Center and Holistic and Natural Pet food store as a food rep and sales assoc. I really love this job! We carry excellent foods Origen, Acana, Natures variety, Evo, California Natural, Evangers, Go and Now Naturals, Sojos, Honest Kitchen, just to name a few. We also sell Raw foods and have 4 huge freezers in our store room and 2 in backstock. We have a commercial Dehydrator just for staff use and a prep kitchen for our staff raw feeders, full service day spa for dogs.... the place is amazing. But my point here is that it is not just raw it is not just kibble. It is what a dog does best on is what I think is what it comes down too. I like to feed foods I have done some research on. I feed Kibble because that is what works here for my lifestyle and number of dogs I care for, I fed raw in the past..... feed it here and there as it is available in whatever form along with carrots apple

( hate my page getting cut off ) now I can't remember the last paragraph. I guess my point really is to each their own. The end results should be the health of your dog and what works best for them that also is what you can do and work with. That is different for everyone and each dog.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Can we call a truce on this subject???  Can we agree that raw feeders like the results of raw and kibble feeders like the results of kibble??????   I have and do feed both.  Some dogs can handle raw and some cannot.  Some dogs can handle kibble and some can not.   I have seen fantastic coats on raw fed dogs and I have seen fantastic coats on pedigree.  The only difference I have actually seen with my own eyes is that dogs that are hyper on kibble can benifit from a change to raw.  Why I don't know.  Do i think one is better than the other???  Maybe ? I prefer to feed raw as it smells fantastic.  But do I feel it is better???  eh, umm, er, can't honestly say.  I get it at a very good price, this also affects my decision to feed raw.  I fed about 20 dogs per month ( board or training) and have seen every manner of feeding.  The only feed that absolutely had negative effects was a food called mainstay but mainstay feed with meat seems complete.  I just don't know...

So you do not think a dry nose on a dog means anything, I thought you would come to that conclusion that shows and tells me how little you know about dogs in general,
I tell you what uvw, You think by throwing a lump of meat with bone at a dog constitutes a sound diet for dogs which are fed Raw that i see and so does every one else, along with the dry noses of your dogs But more important is the way you laugh at the dry nose.
IT is very important ask your bloody vet if you have one, or you should know one for Vaccinations at times for your dogs
However you have shown me and all on here no matter if they feed Raw or Kibble diets, that you know squat about feeding dogs in general read this again and digest it , i will put it in Capitals so you can read it
THE FOOD FEEDS THE BLOOD, and THE BLOOD FEEDS THE BODY understand that
However this is the last no more to say to you, except this.

you have been Measured, Weighed and found Wanting
You simply do not know how to feed dogs to keep them in top condition
