Yes it is alot to take care of... and some do a better job of it than others.
I'm glad you have time to take care of your own dogs.  Otherwise you shouldn't have them.
I'm relieved to know that they are all cared for now so that you have the time to post that helpful bit of information for the dog world to benefit from.

I'm not asking you or anyone else to worry about what you can't change.
Lots of voters in this great country of ours have that same thought process, I'm sorry to say.

For my part,  I would definately appreciate having someone else spare a small amount of their day in order to prevent someone else from purposely being ripped off, if it's known be a certainty...which in this case I know that it was.
And yes, I know this First Hand.

If more dog people spent their energy on doing constructive things for the dog community and those in it, and spent less time wasting their energy on bashing others for trying to do so, I believe the dog world and those who devote their lives to the animals they love would be far more enhanced by doing so.

As an update to this thread, directed to those of you that care and are passionate about preventing others from being ripped off...

I've been emailed by someone who is familiar with this situation that one of two litter pages on said website discussed above has not been revised, still showing the information of the original litters for said stud dog being offered.

Since the kennel owner emailed me to say the page had been revised, I give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this second page from the site is an oversite on his part,  and so I emailed him to let him know.
Today it is still showing said stud dog listed, possibly he is either away for the weekend or has not had access to his webmaster to change the additional litter page?

Will post updates..

Update...
second "upcoming litter page" was updated Aug 8th

I have nothing to add or comment on this thread other than a little tidbit of information that may or may not be useful.  When you (anyone "you") take a stud dog to be collected for freezing - you are automatically the owner of that frozen semen.  So, you do not have to be the owner of the stud dog to be the owner of the semen.  The legal owner of the semen is the person who fills out the collection/freezing forms at the vet and pays for the collection/processing/freezing/storage.  So that owner of that semen could absolutely advertise the stud dog as "available" and use his semen in any way he saw fit, including accepting stud fees (selling the straws) and register his litters from that stud dog.

Hi Molly, and thank you, I appreciate your input about this subject because it is an important one, and one which can present major puppy registration problems for prospective puppy buyers.

I agree with your post in every respect, up to your last several words "and register his litters from that stud dog".
I completely agree that the person who takes the dog for collection IS the one who owns the semen,   but the person who collects the dog, signs the collection forms and has semen frozen /stored on said dog may not always be the one who owns the stud dog.  This is the point at which it becomes a buyer beware situation...because indeed, they DO own that dog's frozen semen.

But for AKC registered litters, You MUST be the stud owner, OR have signed semen collection forms granting permission BY STUD OWNER giving their permission/consent to have said stud dog collected, for which by giving your permission you are agreeing that  "you",  as owner of the stud dog,  agree to sign off and approve AKC registration on all litters produced by your said stud from these and ONLY these agreed upon frozen semen collection(s)...
Typically stud dog owner designates a specific number of collections, (or specifies a particular number of individual breedings) allowed via signed collection form, and those "signed for and approved collections" are then owned by the person collecting from the stud for those specific designated collections/breedings.
That's the only way to insure you can OWN the semen AND will be able to register litters from said stud dog's frozen semen.

If that were not the case,  every person who ever boards, trains, or agrees to feed your dog overnight for you while you're gone, theoretically could collect, freeze and store semen from someone else's stud dog and produce AKC registered pups from same, (provided that and assuming that person also owns the female and she is of course Breed Organization {i.e. AKC} registered. )

As a safety precaution, owner of the stud should never sign and provide a blank collection form to anyone who was given permission to collect stud for their use, as this could be used well outside what stud owner intended.
And of course, Co-ownership of said stud could present a different set of circumstances entirely.

I don't think that is correct, but will check with AKC to be sure.  I believe that for frozen semen breedings, the owner of the semen is the owner of the semen being used for that litter - and that owner of record (on record as owner of the semen) can sign for litter registration.  I do believe.  But I will check, certainly I might be wrong.

I checked.  The application for akc registration for a litter resulting from frozen semen AI is only signed by the owner or co-owner of the SEMEN.  Nowhere does it say the owner of the stud dog's signature or permission is required.
