next thing you know we will have to be placing scanning "barcodes" on these dogs to stop the courrption of

the breeders changing microchips for testing or shows? < yes I heard that is what some do >

and what about the one's

that are all guilty of starting this? The Judges for picking political favor's over good dogs.

AKA Judge's Blindness? lol

still learning here

I have to laugh at some of Daryl's detractors. Pot, kettle.

by eichenluft on 13 March 2012 - 05:03

and Daryls' main "supporter" - pot, kettle.

by duke1965 on 13 March 2012 - 08:03

maybe another view on kennelblindnes;  kennel XX  produced some nice dogs in the eighties , and people still go buy dogs there based upon 30 years old glory , or proudly say   I have a great grandson of  XX  von XXX

for the record of the pots and kettle lovers , I think minimum you should do is healthtests , but on the other hand buying and breeding titled stock  doesnot make one a breeder and brings no guaranties whatsoever about the produced pups

duke;
As usual, well said!

It is so important when someone is claiming to
breed "working dogs" that they in fact actually
get out of their backyard and WORK those dogs
somewhere.

Titles are not the be all end all, but they are a great way
to get your dog & progeny "out there" for the working world
to see.

It takes actual hands on  experience to make a great breeder.
Someone like yourself with years of experience and RESULTS
is able to work with dogs within their own program and
know what they are breeding without perhaps titling.
However, someone like this usually has in fact worked
and/or titled dogs in that untitled dog's family so know
what/how they are bred.

Again, at the minimum, HEALTH testing-xrays etc.

Well spoken Workingdogz

I take my GSD's And Malinois at least 1 time a week to train and elvaluate.

Also, I recommend my puppy purchasing local clients to do the same!

We have a wonderful retired SchH trainer that only charges us $10 ea per dog! (so nice to see someone in for the love of the dog) truly inspirational! I have learned so much from Louie and my other trainer as well! Can you imagine suiting up and taking a few hits for $10!
How do you not give him a bonus, right! I am so lucky to have 2 trainer within 20 min. from me!

Also, I take them different places, for instance, Home depot etc. Real situations.

I love the idea, that was mentioned in a different post, to take them to the shooting range!
I am always open for new ideas, It's a great learning experience for me and my dog's!

Even my SchH 3 Malinois goes for regular sessions!

Great reality check!

Did the Martin Brothers suffer from kennel blindness or just $ blindness ?.

There are no perfect dogs. There are wonderful dogs that fit the description of a "working breed" that do get bred. We all have a vision (or should) of where we want to go with our breedings and as long as that breeding does create a well rounded working dog then it,s in the standard.

As long as one knows the genetics and the dogs they breed and understands the issue,s of health issue present there in. One must except that all dogs have certin weakness,s and be able to admit it to them selfs. Improving the breed is a lofty goal, improving a breeding over a previous is a good goal.

With all due respect Bob, I don't see much difference in the motive, if you are going to split hairs on "blindness". Without the $$$ there would be no adequate measure of the ego, they are inseparable.

Who is Daryl's "supporter"?

Daryl and I certainly have our differences, but he didn't start a nasty discussion, yet it turned into one, and I think it's ridiculous, since it's a good topic.
