RLHAR

Wasn't a risk I was willing to take either way, not with my son's first dog.

As for your question, yes I would call that a feminine head.  The light pigmentation across the eyes elongates and narrows the muzzle.  I also don't care for a roman nose on a dog.   While his blanket is very nice, I hope that the picture quality is bad and he's not that light in real life.

But then I've never agreed with how show judges place dogs, so that's probably why I'm not aspiring to the show ring with a dog.

None of us are going to fall over and drool over any dog  stacked in a  photo because that means nothing to us.  Show us the dog working - not running around some stupid little ring either, actually working.  Then we will tell you if we like it or not.

Until  the 1930s there were no American Cocker Spaniels or English Cockers, just cockers.  The Brits were very smart, they saw how the AKC breeders were turning their nice little gun dog into a frufru joke so they closed their stud books.  The SV needs to do the same.

If it can't work it's not suitable for breeding - PERIOD.

RLHAR..I'm glad you have found a good dog for sports and for your family..and it happens to be a W line..but stating that SL are all fear biters and are dangerous for the family is just telling me that you judt don't know what you are talking about..
I breed dogs that comes from show lines and they are great with kids and all family members..It all depend on the dog itself whatever the lines his coming from..

Sueincc..can't you just look at something and see beauty?? are you so close minded? I certainly hope not for you..

Pretty is as pretty does.  I see the beauty in the GSD who can do the work.  When I fell in love with this breed is was for what they can do not what they look like.  This is a working dog and must remain so that is the heart of the issue.

No July, I didn't say all American Show Lines were fear biters.  I said that after researching the concerns regarding the GSD breed I decided that I had a better chance of finding what *I* wanted for my family from European bred GSDs.

Okay, so July, what do you do with the dogs you are breeding? Unless I missed it ( and as I am no longer fluent in French, it's possible I missed something) on your website, there is no mention of even CKC obedience, tracking, agility, nada. So, what do you do with them by which you evaluate working ability?

I,ve been involved with dogs for 20 years (dog trainer)..I've trained some and show some for client in obedience and show. I've trained and titled 2 dogs in sch.. but those weren't my dogs..that was a long time ago.I hate tracking..i'm not a early morning type!
You are right.  Only my old shepherd Thomson show on my web site for the obedience and a BH..did some HIT with him..I could have title him further but lost interest in the way..He was ready for his sch.1 and things happened in the club..I going to spare the details..
I don't title in OB right now cause I really think CD CDx Ud is boring to teach and for the dog that why I don't do it anymore..would love to do herding.  This summer we will have the land prepare for sheep..next year maybe titling a dog. I would love it..
On my web site I put what i'm doing now and that is showing and breeding. I know how to evaluate a dog temperament..I don't need a Schutzhund field to know if a dog has it or not or what kind of temperament he has..

So what about you Mystere..any title lately??

"None of us are going to fall over and drool over any dog  stacked in a  photo because that means nothing to us."

Who is us?

Us don't include the wowing buyers of my pups.

"I see the beauty in the GSD who can do the work."

Actually so do I, but I also like beauty as it is visually expressed in form and motion.

The point over and over again is that YOU do, just respect others choice.

One should not litter with "fear-biters", "garbage", or "sick" without even a suggestion for the reason.

I think if a male head is any coarser it will become too much so. I like all these male heads, just right. Many people agree.
