I wasn't referring to you, 4pack.

I my country there is a saying when you start impossible task (I'll try to translate it to English): He/she is trying to make the winding river run straight. Practices of various people will continue for we are not all in this because we love our dogs and care about them. What I hate to see is people who, I think, care about GSD, argue about the fact that they do not share the same opinion about certain thing but because of that they fail to see that they have a lot in common and there are a lot of things they agree about .

Kenan, you have good attitide about breeding dogs and the behavior of other breeders. This breed could use a lot more people like you. Good luck with your dogs and breeding program.

Where to start... >They think it's OK if it provides a living to a poor family and I should just mind my own business In the fur trade/dog extermination discussion, Brittany - and, by the way, not you - posted a list of psychopathic tendencies and attempted to ascribe them to anyone involved in the fur trade. I responded, and I quote, "Or it could be simply that the person killing the dog is not a psychopath but rather some poor factory worker who has decided to augment his meager paycheck by raising dogs in his backyard for their fur." First off, I never justified the fur trade, but rather tried to provide a possible alternative to psychopathy as an explanation for why it might happen. Second, how you managed to extrapolate an exchange I had with a third party as you "taking it in the shorts" is beyond me. As for your exchange with D.H. over the video, she raised some specific factual issues about the validity of the production, based upon her observations and past professional experience in media. Points that you did not attempt to rebut in your response, which was, quote, "Oh it's all a lie? I am so heppy to hear that. I'll be sure to tell Larry King next time I see him." Lastly, this whole mess started when you posted, and again I quote, "There's a lesson to be learned here. I hope money soon takes a backseat to ethics. There are bound to be some oversized dogs for sale since the Sieger. Please don't sell them where they will be beaten to death, turned into garments or used to sire puppies for the Asian fur farms." In those four sentences you managed to slander a entire people, nation and culture, and also anyone who might do business with them. There's a poster here, a Chinese breeder, who posts under the name "suhailf" and whose breeding program can be found at http://www.patembhattis.com/ehome.htm Seems very committed to quality breeding and has some very nice dogs. Quite frankly, you owe this guy an enormous apology, and here's my disclaimer: I don't know him from a hole in the wall and he has never once communicated with me about this issue, so I'm not his stooge. History tells us that the way to change the world is to engage in it via communication and commerce, not by sitting up on a lofty perch pissing on the heads of the ignorati below who engage in distasteful behaviors. If you need an example, then look no further than 90 miles south of Key West and see how well the American policy of embargo and disengagement has worked vis-a-vis Cuba over the last 47 years. If you really want change in China, you'll stop calling for boycotts and instead encourage people like suhailf to continue their efforts to promote the breed and raise awareness of it.

You are right P59, I agree with all you have said and promise to never again speak of the fur trade on this list.

Just found this site on a google search, looking for some info, and I started reading this thread. From an outsider looking in, I cannot believe that 4Pack even owns a dog, let alone breeds them. Your mentality is the type breeders and humane societys alike are trying to keep out of the business. I got a chuckle with the little "reality lesson" you were pushing in this entire thread. Yes, there are people out there like you that share the idea that although it's difficult to "off a dog", as you so eloquently stated, it is something that sometimes needs to be done. Does it 4Pack? Is it really necessary? Or is money really that tight for you? So tight that you could club a pup? And 4pack? If you don't have the money to pay for a trip to the vet? Please, close down your little amateur kennel and get out of the business. It costs a small fortune to run a quality kennel and to produce quality dogs. You're obviously not in that league.
