Ooops.. somehow, I hit the submit key as I was trying to fix my typos..oh well, it's early and my husband has contaminated our house after being at the GSDCA Nationals.. thank goodness the USA Nationals are outside for the most part! Anyway, vomFelsenhof, you are right.. we can go round and round on this.. i just know what I know from being in the trenches so to speak.

A good Lab anymore is hard to find. It is easier for me to get a GSD for single purpose narcotics training then to find a good Lab and when I do find a good one for Narc work it usually cost me more than a GSD. The problem I have seen with the Labs besides temperment problems is the stupid owners. I have gone over to peoples houses and seen the kids tormenting the poor Lab puppy with no adult supervision. People just believe "Oh its just a Lab, its safe with kids". Till the dog bites one out of frustration. It's the stupid owners and indiscriminative breeding that is ruining that breed. But a GSD, I have had parents who would not let their kids go outside and play at my house if my boys GSD was out their. He is 8 and has a female GSD that follows him every where even on his bike and follows all the kids when they romp around in the woods. But it is a GSD, not a safe little Lab. give me a break. Unfortunately we will never see legislation that requires people to take a class on how to raise a puppy before they can get one nor will we ever see any requirements of common sense before haveing children. Don't forget to bathe the dog. Pinesol, dilluted, kills a lot of infectious agents and his kind to the coat. I doubt it'll kill parvovirus, so boarding her for a 7-10 day quarenteen period, perhaps splitting the cost with the would-be buyer, funding taken out of the refund, would be the best idea. By all means, don't leave your dog with them! They'll just "get rid of it" (I HATE that term!) ASAP, with no thought to the welfare of the dog, and sue you for the money. Sometimes we just have to "eat it" in this biz...

Seems like you have enough opinions, but I agree with most everyone, give the money back and keep your dog. In the future, listen to the small voice that was obviously saying "don't do it". Usually your gut feeling is right. Oh and another word to the wise, anyone who owns a whipet should never be sold a GSD, that was your first clue, I dont think a whipet is a dog. But then again I am a "breed snob".
