Hello I am new to this but felt it very important to post this because I know the trainer uses this site. I am the Owner of Zues Vom Godinghofer son of Marek. I used a trainer Jerry hicklen he goes by Zahnweg, Jerrypaws and on and on. He was suppose to do SCH and BH on my dog. After repeatly putting me off 4 or 5 months later I still had no video or anything. He put me off on show dates ect. Then I told him I wanted my dog back. I didnt feel like he was even working the dog or he would have had something done. He told me no that he was keeping him until he was done. I told him I was comming to Texas ( I am now in NC) to get my dog. He said he was in MO. I said fine I am comming To MO. He said he was going to Chicago. I then sent the police to his house in FT. Worth TX to check and see if the dog was there. They contacted me and told me he and the dog were there. The were going to arrest him for stealing I said no he now agrees to meet to give my dog back. When I got the dog back you could see every rib. He was in horrible shape. My wife took the dog to the vet. The vet said another week he would have died. He was Severly dehydrated, iron was critically low and he had tick fever. He was having constent diariah. The dog didnt even have basic obedience when I got him back. He listened better before he took him. Beware of this trainer. He did start paying some of the money he owed back but that was short lived. Beware and I would NOT suggest anyone use this trainer. I will be glad to send pics and even a copy of the email he and I exchanged If it will protect another dog from being injuried. Good luck.

If you can't train and take care of your own dog. You shouldn't have one.

Many on this board use professional trainers, mfm.

Please remember....there are always 2 sides to every story!!!! In Jerry's defense...I know he has a great love for the breed and any dog. His utmost concern is always the dog's well being. I find this story hard to beleive.....

I am so sorry to hear about that DtownDually. Thanks for the heads up. I am also fairly new to the message board. I am sending my dog out to a trainer, but he is not far from me. I am sending him out do to unavailable time. It's not because I can't take care of my dog. I just don't have the amount of time that is needed to do the training. If you still are considering getting him trained, and haven't found anyone, you can email me and I can give you his email and website.

mfm, Not all people have trainers or clubs near them and need to use an outside trainer. Don't judge people based on that. DtownDually, Hope your dog recovers okay. Good luck.

What I dont understand is what is the piont to put SchH title on the dog if you dont do it your self, what for?

Furthermore it seems to me that the most ignorant and least competent are frequently the most judgemental regarding the choices of others. Even veteran breeders and trainers occasionally send out a dog for training. It is more responsible when you feel that you are not able to do it yourself. Dtown, do the best you can and ignore the training Nazis. Real trainers don't waste their time talking trash. Good Luck, Jonah

My sympathies go out to your dog and yourself assuming all info is correct. Now there are more than a few reasons why people hire professional trainers. There are people who are specializde in this field and thus we employ their services. Even I seek professional help from others. This does not apply only to dogs. In every facet of life, one would need to employ the services of others. Sending our dogs out to others could be as a result of us wanting to show/compete in classes over the age of 2 years. Maybe we do not have enough expertise to do it ourselves. Why do some people build their own race cars and others buy theirs. DtownDually has taken a step further than a lot of people have. There are so many people on this board with phenominal dogs, but haven't taken the time to title or employ the services of professionals. Yet, they advertise litters for sale from their stock of untitled dogs. Dtown, this is an unfortunate situation. And I hope it doesn't leave an everlasting bitter taste in your mouth.Get your dog back into good health and have plenty of fun with him. -Shak
