Jenijen..., I am pissed off. If you don't know what your doing, why breed dogs? This guy has produced a litter of high drive puppies and doesn't know what to do with them. Read his adds. Is this the 100% DDR litter or the Czech/DDR litter? Does he know what it is? Breeding a litter so you can have a puppy is not reasonable. This guy will dump these puppies on the first $500 he gets. Do you think he'll honestly screen his buyers? He says himself that he is 4-5 hours from a working club. What is the purpose of even welping workig dogs if you don't do any training?

Ouch, I went through and looked at some of the various the adds. There are 21 adds for this litter with different claims and different prices.

4pack, Spook does not have a clue what a backyard breeder is !! so again Spewing spooky raising havock for anyone honestly seeking advice from persons with kowledge... But spook has no knowledge so has to resort to spewing once again. jjude, You have been lent some diverse sound advice, which of the advisors you choose to follow is entirely up to you. But after reading all of the posts it's clear you have been given options, one way or the other way makes no difference to me and is noones business but your own. Choose the methods/styles of raising these pups that best fits your own agenda. Ignore the occational spouting off by people who like to critisize others while sitting back doing nothing at all to improve the breed. Wish you luck and hope you continue to seek those who would offer you sound advice, diverse as it may be. :-)

It seems to me that the 21 ads are actually for two different litters. One had 19 DDR pups that are definitely theirs. The other is the Czech/DDR which still has females available... and maybe isn't even their own litter. But they seem to be different litters... hopefully they don't have all 11 of the puppies... that would be a nightmare. jude, From what I have learned from police dog trainers is that they want their dog to be dominant and think it is above all people except for their handler... so not reprimanding the pups makes since for that... but you could definitely redirect them to something more fun. As far as sport or SaR dogs... I would think you don't want the pup thinking it is totally dominate because it is harder to train and possibly less reliable around people (that it could be rescuing). At 8 weeks I would think you should decide how you are going to raise the pups... obviously since you have children it would probably be better not to have them chewed up... and tell the potential buyers what you have done to see if it is similar to how they would have raised them themselves. Around this time I would also crate train them seperately... many people think they can become too doggy if they are always around their dog pack... they need to enjoy time with people... and they need to have time on their own to gain independence. I don't have a lot of experience, but I have great mentors... and hopefully my advice, which is their advice from years of experience, can help you. BTW, if you don't want to have this problem again... you may wish to retire your bitch from being a brood... litter sizes are often about the same as previous... and although you have been able to place 15 pups (congrats!) next time it may be much harder. Best of luck with the little devils.

JJude-- You have your hands full there. I took a look at the pictures of those pups--they are beautiful, little monsters. Probably, totally spoiled, and your two girls are their constant playmates. I bet you never thought you'd still have them around at this age and size. Well--getting serious--you need some sound advice on handling them---realistic advice. Your girls are attached, and it's probably not an option now to totally separate them from the pups. But, they are little devils and it might be time for you to intervene somewhat. I'd probably let them exhaust themselves in the yard--then bring in one at a time for the girls to play with. A firm NO is not going to hurt those pups at all. "NO", with an immediate, pleasant redirection to a toy seems to be in order here. I am no big disiplinarian---but everyone needs corrections for bad behavior when warranted. Not excessive--just enough to accomplish sanity for everyone. From the look of those pups, they're quite confident. I'm not going to touch on the breeding aspect--you've opened yourself up to a lot of scrutiny here--all you can do is listen, and take away what you need to move on. The pups really are something--you'd have to be blind not to see that. I do believe you are looking for working homes because $500 is not excessive--and outside of being a true fancier of the breed, most of the public has no interest in checking titles or OFA. Sad, but true. If I were you, I'd read DKiah's post carefully, throwing in some of Giggles. You need to develop a suitable, working arrangement for you and the pups. Good luck in finding the proper placements for these guys.

Echo, you are also a back yard breeder and you know it. I've said it before and will say it again. You put a male and female GSD together without any concern as to what it will produce and then throw out a few buzz words to naive buyers. (Read her adds. She doesn't know the difference between a showline or a working line. All her dogs are ready to go work or show.) Why do you think you know more about lines than people who have studied them for years. YOU are part of the problem. You have one decent looking dog and none of them work. You have a self-perpetuating situation. You breed 'em, capture 'em and then rescue 'em. Do you ever sell any of your rescues and represent it as a dog you've bred?I'm sure all breeders are looking for your endorsement.

by EchoMeadows on 27 November 2006 - 22:11

Spook, ohhh please !! You are so dim !! Yes of course I get dogs in the shelter and sell them as dogs I've bred, are you kidding me that's a money maker right there, ROFL !! OMG!! ouch that hurt, I just fell out my chair. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. Male + Female = good puppies no matter what !!! LOLOLOLOLOLOL, oh your hurting me today ! Workingline, Showline, of course I know the difference, Also know they are the same freaking breed !!!!!! ALL ARE German Shepherd Dogs !!! Oh yes I think your right I am part of the problem, I have a very strict breeding program, therefore I must be out there rescueing my own dogs... Oh WAIT I forgot NOPE sorry I microchip every single puppy so guess they're not mine, probably yours ROFL !! At least I do rescue, but if an animal comes into the shelter it's adopted through the shelter, If it comes to my rescue then it's adopted from my rescue, TWO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ENTITIES !!! THERE ARE PAPER TRAILS ON THESE THINGS YOU NINNY !! I'm not sure anyone looks for my "endorsement" But I know they don't look for yours !!! Try it just once, offering some good advice and not following it up with "but I bet you won't" What an As*, You offer nothing to anyone here but a good laugh, and by the way Thanks for providing mine today !! Gotta love ya :-) Still ROFL

EchoMeadows, I am wondering if you might have one of those panda shepherds in your well-stocked inventory. I may be interested in a bitch for breeding but only if she has a very heavy black mask and round yellow eyes.
