I was reading a thread on another GSD board (is that vague enough for the copyright police) about taking dogs into places like petsmart etc… I avoid these places like the plague. I was told that someone was stupid enough to have their dog off leash and in a down while at a pet store and the dog injured a small dog. This is something we do NOT need for the GSD and Schutzhund. And to make matter worst the owner of the dog is a USA member and breed warden. C. Wilkins

Hello dajkzo, I often go to petsmart to buy dogfood (not the cheap stuffs) and I also bring my dogs inside the store, since it's the perfect time socialize my dogs with people. I will NEVER allow any of my dogs to be off lead at any point. It is the policy for petsmart to keep your dogs on lead at all times. I'm very interested in who this so called USA member/ breed warden is? Regards of this forum that you are a member of... this is very important to let the public know about this person. IMO this person should NOT be a breed warden if he/she does this type of stuffs out in public. I hope the little dogs owner is smart enough to get themselves all lawyered up and take this irresponsible dog owner to court. This is pathetic! This is not good for the sport and for the breed.

This breeder is in western PA near Pittsburg. I'd like to give the person a chance to explain the situation themselves. They do a good job of claiming everyone else is always wrong. If "she" doesn't step up to the plate (I like baseball) then I'll digress into the facts Just having a dog off leash in a store is just plain stupidity. My dogs have great obedience, but I would never put them or myself in that type of scenario. C. Wilkins PS: Yellowrose, you have to change that handle, I’ll be whistling that song in my sleep LOL

The only one who comes to mind is Molly Graf!

by dajkzo on 14 January 2007 - 02:01

Peg, Well depending on how large the map you have is, Carlisle is a few inches away from Pittsburg and a 4 hour drive. I will make it clear. Molly Graf is one of my best friends, and she would never do something as stupid as this. If she did I would be the first one to tell her off. I'm sure Molly is going to read you post a respond, you might want to dig in deep and put on a helmet. C. Wilkins

Nope, wasn't me - I am not an idiot like the person who left their dog in a down-stay off-leash and out of control so he could attack a small dog that was on leash in a pet store that she had been asked not to return to. Think again. It should be an obvious answer. molly
