what I hate, is ignorant Mothers and their untrained childern. I use to take my dogs to the soccer fields to watch my kids play, with 1 rottie and GSD, the GSD was an abused rescue and not trustworthy with hands coming at her. So I would sit way away from anyone else 1 dog on each side of me. Sure enough, a Mom would walk all the way over to me with her kids, with Ice Cream Dripping from their hands and mouth. Make a wide circle around the rott and want to pet the GSD. I would wait until they complete the circle and then ask the Mom is she NUTS? Did you ask me if any of the dogs are safe to be petted, are you going to sue me when they take the ice cream from your kid. Plus the dog you have led your child to is unsafe, The rottie is the safe one. Public perception of a breed, without any history on the DOG, YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Petsmart is where people go with what the name means...majority of people in there have "pets" and when one of us with a real trained , sport dog comes in store and we tell people "no" u may not touch my dog or pet it, were are here just to walk out dog thru the situation, because like someelse said if a child splaps the dog, or screams or someone causese dog to react , then we are in the wrong.....98% of the people in there at any given time are pet owners, but they do ask questions when they see an erect properly obedient dog walking properly and drop dead good looking.....

Donna, I agree with you, There are many dogs with excellent temperaments, and there are many idiots with dogs, LOL. My point is, I don't tell anyone what they can or can not breed, why the heck does anyone here think they have any justification what so ever to be telling me what to do with my dogs, We are working on it. We don't have to Title any dogs, We don't have to KKL any dogs, But we plan to despite the bad taste this is all leaving in our mouths. If I become as "stuck up" and "holy" as some of the people here, I think I will shoot myself. I wasn not raised to be a "follow the blind" kind of person. I take initiative, I do what is right as best I can and that's all I can do.

Platz, I understand your thoughts. I have never claimed to have more knowledge than I have, matter of fact, I have stated I have done some pretty stuipd things thru ignorance, (you can chalk this up to one if you wish). I get the issues with "petsmart". However, If I were to allow myself to be afraid, I would not walk my dogs down the street, to many other dogs not leashed. I would not take my dogs to the woods and walk, it has been posted here many have run into lose dogs. I would not own more than male/female/or dog, I would only take my dogs to the field to work, where accidents "never" happen, granted few and far between. I am not advocating everyone to take their dog there, for me it has it's place.

1doggie2 I wasn't referring to you when I made the post. I just wanted to state how I feel and why. There is a big differance between going down the road, and woods and coming upon an unleashed dog then going into petco. Dogs in the woods ect....will usually book it on their own, but get in with some of these spoiled pets who think their everyone's universe and their "mommy" who spoiled them and gave them their misplaced confidence.....well that's when you run into trouble. Echo, no one has the right to tell you what to do with your dogs. The thing is....this is basically the board where alot of people take their breeding, trialing and showing seriously . I don't mean that to sound the way I typed it because I know you do to, only differentley. When everyone I know is getting ready to trial or even getting closer to a title, there is no such thing as not enough time. They all work, and have family obligations but they make the time. We've gotten together at 5, to track before work....we've rented buildings that were big enough to work with one blind and someone could give the dog a slip after work. It's alot of work, and VERY time consuming. Most of them have titled more than one dog and only a couple have bred litters. Not that they haven't wanted to, but to socialize and imprint puppies right is very time consuming. So when someone comes along and starts having puppies, without titles saying they don't have the time, your bound to get some oposition. Some will voice it, and alot others will just think it. Anyway, I hope you go ahead with your plans to title. Good Luck

Echo A title does not change a dog's genetics. It is what it is, and it is not genetically any better for having a title. However, without testing the breeding dogs, how do we know they can perform? It is hard for most people to be subjective enough to be able to tell if the dog can work or not without testing it. "I love my dog, of course he could work if I were to try it!" Titles are intended to be a more subjective evaluation of ability that can hopefully be passed along to the next generation. No system of selection is perfect, it's just what we have. Otherwise, without a weeding out process for working ability, we have American bred showline dogs, WHO CAN DO THE FLYING GAIT BY GOD! I will put my neck out there beside Echo's..I have two brood bitches who are NOT titled, though their breeding is fantastic. When they are retired, which won't be very long from now, all of the breeding dogs I have will be titled. It would be nice if I could Koerklasse them all as well, but that can prove difficult in the USA, particularly when you live in Alaska. The standards that the SV uses are set up for European conditions where that kind of support is available. I can't even get a breed warden to come look at my litters...there isn't one out here. No tattooer either...forget what you see on the USA website, those people either don't do it anymore, or they moved away, but their status has not been withdrawn.

Wow...woke up to take the dog out, figured I'd relax a little by the computer & I feel like I am on the fronline in Iraq.

by EchoMeadows on 15 January 2007 - 17:01

rocket, LOL AKV, Very well said, and sounds like we are much in the same boat, to get KKL have to drive from Oregon up to Canada Border or close to it. But someday... Platz, :-) don't worry I won't let anyone derail us from our training, We enjoy it too much !

"Ninety-nine percent of the failures come from people who have the habit of making excuses."

by EchoMeadows on 16 January 2007 - 17:01

who's failures would be speaking of spook, Your own, as you still report no titles that you've ever put on a single dog, Yet continue to "SPEW" your crap at everyone !! No One cares.
