For those of you who plan to keep their dogs on a healthy diet and refrain from "raw" and for those of you who want to know what damage they have done feeding raw, and what damage they are doing to our beef and cattle industry, I have provided a couple of links on Neospora caninum: http://www.cdc.gov/ncidod/eid/vol5no2/petersen.htm http://www.parasitol.or.kr/kjp/full-text/2003_01.pdf

"First, you need to know that dogs do not need meat in their diet. They do need protein but not in form of meat. The meat you eat may be safe, but the stuff these GDS enthusiasts feed their dogs consists of tripe, honey comb stomach etc, most of it scraped up from the slaughter house floor where it has been dumped on for the day." What planet did you come from? Sience when do dogs not eat meat?? My dogs have been on raw for 2 years now and have NEVER had a problem with any one of them. They are much healthier now than when they were on kibble. I wouldent feed my dogs anything I wouldent eat myself. I go to the store a pick up a pack of chicken legs, give them 3 or 4 of them and cook the rest for us. I know many people, breeders, friends, family, co-workers who would accecpt nothing less than a raw diet for their dogs. I highly recommend it to anyone who has done their reasearch and is confident on improving their dog health and well being :)

Uvar, I am sorry. I mixed you up w/ someone else. Having re-read the posts, I see that until now you have been relatively sane. In this case you are quite mistaken. Dogs, like all carnivores are best adapted to meat protien, and have negative reactions to many of the other sources of protien. Best Wishes, Jonah

I have 3 GSD's, and prefer to feed just one food for all at this stage of their lives. My 2 working line kids can eat anything and look great, but my showline female has a very sensitive stomach, and either gets the runs, or throws up with many top brands. Chicken Soup is rec. by Whole Dog Journal, so I tried it. All 3 have great coats, great energy and firm stools with perfect weights. IMO, "the best food" really depends on the individual dog. Heidi

How else do u prepare dinner for humans without handling raw meat and my dogs and I have never had an ecoli or salmonella attack, but Ive eaten in famous restuarants and gotten sicker than a dog.....we all know raw meat has to be handled properly and I dont feel tash meat off the butchers floor, either....My butcher is Head of Brookoshires Meat Distribution and has his own Black Angus and hunts deer every year and a professional butcher knows what meats in the organs are good or bad...processed dog foods are advertised to make u believe they are tops and they are only dried ingredients with little nutrition and unless u by the ones with no grains as my motto for years has been "Corn is for Hogs, not for dogs" The chicken industry and the lamb and all industries have been plagued with bad advertisements and things gone wrong, but man has to exist the best way he knows how. use commom sense and I think Tracy Bullinger on her site has a dog food called that very name.

yellowrose of Texas: I fed cooked tripe, honeycomb stomach and cooked beef blood for almost two decades prior to the American "raw diet fad". But, I stood in the slaughter house beside the persons slaughtering when they collected the blood. Your meat manager does what all other persons have to do in a slaughter house, watch their time and perform their work in accordance with the time schedule. They are not getting paid more if they take the tripe and discarded meat to a bin first instead of dumping it onto the floor. That is done by the clean-up staff at the end of the day. I have stood in excellent slaughter houses and collected my dog food personnally. I was under attack by breeders, dog owners for so many years because of my dogs' diet. Then, associated with the mad cow diseases - and we have the proof who caused that one - we suddenly had the raw diet fad starting up. And, we all should know who did this to us. Americans fell for it, mass hypnosis works with humans. Skilled leaders can introduce anything with mass hypnosis. As you can see, we have mass hypnosis right now in the veterinary profession coming down from the top, the associations. Works like a charm. Puppies being sedated for a simple tattoo. Vets telluing you so. Bitches being operated on with C-sections for no reason many of them, after one hour of no puppy? Outrageous! I stopped dead in my tracks when "raw diet" became a fad. I will never touch this stuff again. Germany does not feed this stuff. Reputable vets do not promote this stuff.

uvar, has a good point in that NO Vet that I have spoken with regarding raw feeding has ever liked the idea, Mind you I do not purchase feed through my Vets so they stand nothing to gain or loose from me in that regard. My Vet that I use all the time, Highly recommended that I NOT use raw. Many of the same reasons mentioned by Uvar, Have any of you been on the "KILL FLOOR" ?? It's a nasty nasty place, Been on one twice hated it both times, sloppy sloppy sloppy work to say the very least, makes me glad we purchase 1/2 a beef for ourselves from a private individual who slaughters the beef themselves then takes it in to be hanged in a cooler. I can't bring myself to buy the stuff in the stores. NO WAY !!!!
