OMG!!!

Just got back from taking my daughter to College Tours, and haven't looked here in a week!  Jenni78
has what I was asking for 100%, she understood my thread completely and all I did was wanted a update on a thread
posted in 2008. ( Thanks Jenni78 :-) we need more like you)
The post back in 2008 was well read and had great feed back & info.  However, just goes to show 6 years down the road people
have changed and their thinking also changes. I guess I know better then to Re- post an Idea about something I think
would be educational and a good topic. Boy was I wrong............... Oh by the way I'm a He :-)  I very rarely post and I try to
treat everyone the way I would wanted to be treated. Just the way I was brought up I guess, but to each is own. Thanks
to those whom submitted info. to the Topic.

Be well

Glad to know you're a he. I got tired of typing s/he as I explained countless times that you were not even asking for what was being bickered about. As to your comment that we need more like me...........I don't think you will get much backing on that. LMAO!!!

I am a fan of you too! (Jenni78) My kind of people.

You're not such a bad guy yourself, Paul. And I say having actually talked to you, live, multiple times, not just your internet persona. Regular Smile

Jenni you are what I would call an excellent, knowledgable working line breeder. But I have a question. Breeding repeat breedings...how many breedings would it take to exhaust the genetic possibilities? Say 8 pups per litter. It's a hypothetical, I'm not that great on genetics. But if you're working with only 2 dogs, how far back in the pedigree are you sampling genetics? Just curious, trying to learn. jackie harris

I have always wondered why not breed the daughters back to the father if you really like the litter?  This is done in other working breeds, hounds, game dogs, some mals.  A tight breeding like that should show you what you have.

many people make mistake in linebreeding by thinking that doubling up names on pedigree is linebreeding, this is not the case, prospectsfor linebreeding have to be selected with great care and also the breeding partner has to have matching qualities, for selected female, otherwise nothing will work out

Whoa, Jackie. I'm nowhere near proficient enough in genetics to answer that. Like Duke said, it's not that simple. I'm not even sure how to begin answering as to "exhausting" genetic possibilities. I would think they'd be almost limitless. Even littermates don't have the same genes, so.............

I know there are tables you can draw for recessives, I wonder how accurate they would be for other traits? I guess you'd have to know how heritable they are, dominant or recessive, etc. I'm fascinated with heritability of things, sorry, I just want to tap into anyone with that knowledge, lol!
