For those that feed Natural Balance dog food... Has anyone had any issues with the dog food lately? Such as your dog wont eat it anymore. Found "foreign" kibbles in the bag you opened?? Food doesnt smell right.

I know Natural Balance has sold out to Delmante back in May of last year.

If you would prefer to PM me that is fine as well.

look at the protein content in NB.  only about 21-24%  you're paying a lot for a bag of
potatoes or rice.  very little protein.  no wonder the dog doesn't want to eat it. :(

Jyl,

Are you a member of dogfood chat? A lot of the members on that forum feed that food, I would join and ask them there. I feed Fromm, to our terrier mix.

We used to feed the limited ingredients variety to Lil' Bit when her EPI was really bad, but she flat out refused it at one point, no amount of waiting would persuade her, & as skinny as she was I was loathe to wait her out too long. She was ravenous usually, so we just changed her back to the kibble every one else was eating, but customized it a little. She ate again, & is doing very well.  I just figured she knew something I didn't & we haven't looked back! jackie harris

Too bad, I didn't know Del Monte bought them in May of 2013.  I'm sure there is still some old stock floating around, but it should be safe to assume that Del Monte will change the ingredients and processing.  I have fed the limited ingredients fish & potato will yogurt on top for years.  I may have to go back to Wellness.  The recent color change in the last bag of food I bought makes sense to me now.  It used to be a dark color with an oily feel, now its light colored and dry.

Here is the Facebook page for Natural Balance, which starts out with "we have exciting news" followed by complaints from every customer who posted a comment, pretty hilarious actually:

Momosgarage,
I just opened a bag of the potato and fish and it was a lighter than normal color as didnt smell "fishy" like it normally does.... not to mention that there was MOLD inside the bag on some of the kibble..

My cat who has eaten NB for 5 years will no longer eat their kibble. I guess I should trust my pets... they do know best.  I rotate around some of their formulas with my cat and he has always done very well on it. Although he does eat alot of canned food as well. He will no longer touch any of their dry food what so ever... even the other 2 cats who are not picky at all will not touch NB dry food now.

I have had other issues recently with Natural Balance dog food. The quality control has not been the best, to say the least.

I spoke to Natural Balance yesterday and the person on the phone ASSURED me that there was no change in the formulas since Del Monte bought them out. I dont believe that... I have seen to many issues since NB was sold to Del Monte.

Uh,yeah. That would make me even more nervous than if they'd admitted it. I'd break up w/NB, personally.

BTW, I got your card and forwarded it. We're a few days slow due to weather.

Jenni,
I agree. I will not be feeding NB to my dogs or cats anymore. Ice, my 11 month old, doesnt eat NB so there are no issues there. Xena looks great on NB but I do not feel safe feeding it to her since I have got a moldy bag as well as found the foreign kibbles in another bag. I am 99.9% sure the mystery kibbles were cat food. The reason I say that it looked like NB cat food is because my cat was eating the NB. Velcro, the cat also was eating NB... no longer though. He stopped eating it... hmmmmm wonder why...lol.
Ice is staying on the food he is on. But I will be switching Xena and Velcro to another food... may do Wellness or Blue Buffalo..
