DDR-DSH

by DDR-DSH on 06 February 2007 - 00:02

I just wanted to mention, also that I retired a couple of years later with 26 years working for SBC as a field installation / repair technician. In my last ten days on the job I made approximately seven thousand dollars..! I took an assignment to go up to northern California to work overtime on rain trouble. It was a blast, and the first time I had ever been able to go. I could never leave before, because the dogs required care and also we were raising a daughter, up until she was almost seventeen and killed in a motor vehicle accident. Look, folks.. The animal rights activists want you all to believe that the only people who are breeding and raising dogs are doing it out of greed. Sorry.. Not true. I made an average of $60,000 per year on my job in the last few years before I retired. I did not have to raise dogs to make money, and that was not my goal. I started the kennel as a retirement business and I was obligated to try to make even a small profit, because you cannot write off expenses for a passive activity or hobby. But believe me that I could have made a LOT more money just working overtime, and I should have. I had this really dumb, stupid, naive idea that I wanted to do something philanthropic, raising a few dogs every year to donate to police. I had done it before, and it just made me feel so great. Probably after our daughter died, I just "fixed" on "the dream" and that way I had something intense and demanding to do so that I could try to put the tragedy behind me. I had this dream for almost 25 years, and worked very hard to find the right bloodlines to do it, find and buy a licensed kennel and so forth. All of these things I did, only to have it destroyed by some selfish people with their own agendas. I'm still a dreamer, I think.. But this particular dream I left behind me, forever. It will never be, and perhaps it should not have been. I see a lot of things in society now that are very troubling, and I know that we are all going to be facing some real challenges, ahead. The more people talk about the things happening around us, the more we will have a chance to know the truth and to find courage for the road ahead. Some things will not mean anything to you now, but if you can remember them it will help you to understand later on. Just try to rememmber that.

DDR-DSH I am sorry for your loss. I cannot imagine. I have enjoyed reading your posts and it is encouraging that there are those that are dedicated to the breed, but more importantly, the truth. The truth sets us free. Best wishes.

I'm STILL a little lost. You get a dog that has already put several people in the hospital. You then claim that you were lucky to get out of his kennel run alive when you first got him. He had to be completely restrained at all times. You breed him. Knowing the dog's behavior, why wouldn't you STOP with the first crazy litter? You then say that you had to come within a hair's breath of killing him, and that dealing with him gave you such problems that you once grabbed a stranger by the throat in a supermarket. Couldn't you recognize that there was a problem? What did the stranger say when you did that (if you really did) - were the police called for that too? You advise in training methods that are, at a minimum, NOT suitable for public messageboards, as these things are sometimes read by the very people who you claim gave you problems back in 1999. Didn't you learn ANYTHING? You are giving public lessons on how to choke your dog until it passes out. Aside from the fact that this sort of thing revolts me, this is in no way appropriate here. And NO, I am NOT an animal right activist, YOU are just irresponsible. Twisting a stick thru Ufo's collar like a tourniquette is not most people's idea of a 'funny anecdote' - your words. I understand that facts can get twisted, BUT what on earth is the justification of having that many dogs (the report said 64) with only one staff member? What the heck were you doing with all of them? You obviously weren't a rescue organization. Did you have a license to own that many dogs? In that area? I assume just because you have boarding runs in your business doesn't mean you can have unlimited number of your own dogs filling them up. If the neighborhood was as you said, why did you purchase that kennel property? Anyone who knows dogs should realize the potential problems that can come from barking dogs. You ask "Well, what do you do with a dog that wants to run all day and doesn't want to eat" HOW ABOUT FIND A HOME WHERE THE DOG CAN BE WORKED AND CARED FOR? You wanted to breed dogs for police work? Were all those seized dogs your breeding stock? I'm still a little lost. Funny, you are fine with admitting all of this, after you can't deny it.

DDR-DSH, your posts appear to me to be from the heart. Thanks for sharing this information with us. I was always curious what the actual story was with UFO and if he was the hardest GSD ever imported into the USA, as supposedly suggested by Adam Kuhns. I know that his reputation was that of a real gangster GSD and you have supported that. E-mail me if you want to hear a story about another gangster GSD imported in the USA recently the at is very hard. It's something I wouldn't fell comfortable posting. Best wishes and thanks for the background on UFO. You have filled in many of the blanks of this important history in the breed.

From my point of view , Boban is not special concerning his bite work See for your self: http://gallery.site.hu/u/Aquarius-kennel/VIDEO/B/Boban_von_der_Grauen_v_Monstab4.mpeg.html http://gallery.site.hu/u/Aquarius-kennel/VIDEO/B/Boban_von_der_Grauen_v_Monstab3.mpeg.html Regards, Igor

I note in all of the videos I have seen of Boban, that he backs away from the helper during guarding to a "safe" distance, he barks with a "please give me?" bark, he flattens his ears tight and closes his eyes just before the grip, and during stick hits. This could mean he "isn't special" - OR it could mean he is very young, and for DDR-line dogs that take a very long time to mature and be strong and powerful - he might just not be ready yet to show power and true aggression. molly

La Porte, you want to know about "twisting" and you are the one that is twisting words. I don't have anything to say to you. You are not worth bothering with, and your questions don't deserve a response, in my opinion. I don't care to talk to people who seem to have a chip on their shoulder for me (in my opinion, you do). I am talking to anyone else out there, BUT you. You seem to presume that I owe you answers, or that you are some sort of overseer, whose approval I need or crave. And you are right about one thing.. You ARE lost, and not just a little! Now, please go back to your room!

Just a little word on activism.. Email lists and weblogs tend to be rather infested with activists. Take animal rights activists, for example. Most of us know that they are against us and want to control our activities. They are not above espionage and infiltrating. They hang out on our lists, learn our lingo, pick our brains, pretend to be one of us, and then try to direct and control the dialogue. They try to shout, shame, humiliate, challenge, query, berate, and lead group attacks against persons who state views they don't approve of, and if the tactic works, then this person is left to defend themselves against increasing hostility and pressured to concede or leave the group. Now, let me state that people are welcome to their own opinion, but not to force it on me without my consent. Anyone can ask questions and state their own opinion, as long as it does not at some point cross the line and become harrassment. Activists do this all the time. The group dynamic is very similar to what happens in cult programing. The goal is control. Control the group, control the dialogue, control the people who don't cooperate. Control-freaks.. I hate them. They suck. If you know the game at face value, it doesn't work. It doesn't work with me, by the way. Has anyone heard of the Hegelian dialectic? It's a tool of the left. You can look it up.. Lots written on it. The idea is to keep asking questions and making arguments, with pressure to respond, so that the target (could be a person, corporation or group) is compelled to answer. Over time their own answers are made to compromise their positions under further questioning, and so on, until the target is confounded and lost, and finally gives up and concedes in anger, frustration, confusion and fatigue. But I have something to say, too, and I have the right. I don't have to qualify it to anyone. And I really want to thank the people who made the kind comments, but I cannot allow myself to be influenced by opinions, either approving or disapproving, without betraying myself. Do you understand this? So, with all due respects, I don't give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of me. Are we clear on that? I won't go more than one round with someone who is (in my opinion) out to play this game with me. The first round is a charity on my part. Beyond that is a waste of my time.

DDR-DSH Yes, so why do you write about your methods with Ufo and how many people he injured? To give people like that more ammunition?? And if you don't answer me, I don't care. This is something we all need to consider. Some things are NOT suitable for public messageboards, whether it's animal rights people that will read it, or some newbie that doesn't understand something extreme, decides to try it out on their own with no guidance, and does alot of damage. If you're into bragging about your tough, dangerous dogs and how you control them, do it over beer and pizza in your living rooms, not where anyone can read it. It doesn't present our breed in a good light, nor does it present the GSD community as responsible owners.
