Silbersee

Good points, DDRshep!

But what about Evan, do you know him? He is still in Germany. Mr. Severin bred his other black female to him. There are some photos of Evan on his homepage under "Wurfankuendigung". You might be right about the females. Fenja participated in the LGA 2006, although I do not know how competitive that region is compared to the Western ones.

I also agree with you on the temperament issues! Overly aggressive or feral dogs should never be bred. It might not show up in their children, but it certainly will in the grandchildren or great-grandchildren.

Again, I do not know much about East German lines, but will they not be too "bottlenecked" soon? On a German forum, an East German breeder stated that East Germany made a huge mistake by eliminating too many bloodlines for political reasons. Nowadays, most dogs are out of 13/13A. This is hearsay, not my info. But I do wonder why Mr. Severin decided to breed Blackie to Lasco and how the puppies were?

For the record Bobans OFA's were not done at Vom Banach K9. These claims were made on the database after he was sold to Robert Tobolewski ( black sable)  I was never bitten or attacked by Boban. The people who know the facts on this dog are only those who have owned him, anything else is simply rumor for feeding the database messageboard or other forums.

Silbersee, sorry, I don't know Evan other than pictures of him on the Internet. Neither do I know what Mr. Severin was thinking. I don't think there is anything wrong with line 13/13a; there are good and not so good dogs in these lines as in any lines.

JulieM, boban's OFA was listed as excellent on the PDB while he was at the vom banach kennel, I saw it then but maybe someone else put the rating there.

I know nothing about this dog or the lines, or breeder. One thing that I have always found interesting; when people speak of this dog is, it seems as though people automatically see his aggression as a nerve issue.

From everything that I have read about him, I would seriously consider breeding to him. I would seriously look at the whole picture. If I were serious about a dog like this, I would go directly to the dog and work him myself.

This dog may not be what some want ot desire. My question is why is a dog that has handler aggression or does not allow stangers to pet them, manipulate them, look in their mouths, etc,  automatically considered unstable? Is it possible the dog is just a mean, dominant, son of a bitch? If this is the case then what is wrong with that?

Just because someone does not like something about a dog does not mean it does not have value or a place in the dog world.

@ GARD,

The only thing that can be said for sure about this dog is that he takes a good picture.

But having said that, to me he looks like a short legged borderline long coat with weak pasterns and almost on his hocks in that picture.

Dawgma,

That is incorrect. Boban was listed as HD a normal when he was here and I was not the one who posted him on the database originally nor did I make any changes during the time I owned him, he was already on the database when I aquired him and at that time his hips were showing HD a Normal.  His OFA's were never done here or is there any record of them being done by OFA records. His titles and Hips ratings were changed after I sold him January 07.  As you know anyone can change anything at any time on the Database. It is not a reliable source for verification of titles or hips ratings.  If there is a question you should contact his current owner and request a copy or proof of OFA  or other verification.

GARD,
Looking at the big picture is important.  Your post was appreciated.  I own a Boban son and will send you a P.M.  I do not wish to engage this topic on this forum.

Well considering the big picture, it would be nice to know since you own a son of his, if he is throwing any of the so called handler agression to his offspring as there are people still very much interested in this dog.

vomlandholz,

Out of respect to your request I will say that my boy is not handler aggressive.  He is not a high over the top pray drive dog, but is definately up to civil.  For Schutzhund I would prefer his moms side over dads but for my preferences he and I hit it off real well.  His hips are offa fair,  but I thought they looked good, not sure if the grading is tougher now or not but I am ok with fair as I do not plan on breeding him.

As for handler aggression, that is another topic for another time, personally I think too much is made of this.  I do not see it as the death certificate many do.  I am going to stop now as I do not want to get into a pointless debate.  Thanks
